Cute movie, Ryan Reynolds as always is good. Sandra Bullock is funny and her and Reynolds have a decent chemistry. Betty White really shines in the supporting role.

This is a funny rom com about a horrible boss who forces her assistant to marry her to allow her to stay in the US. They travel to Alaska to announce their engagement to his family with funny consequences. Great cast and plot.

The Proposal is a typical romantic comedy. That's it. There's not much else to say about it. Everything in the film has been done before. There's nothing original about it. Does it please the masses? Certainly. Is it fun? I guess so. I can't say I really enjoyed it, but I didn't ... read moredislike it either. It just kept my mind stupidly occupied for a couple hours.

The Proposal is an awful film that relies on every romantic film cliché in the book. The film suffers from a poorly written script, poor acting and very bad directing. This film is plainly horrible, and is just not worth anyone's time. The film has absolutely nothing new to offer... read more, and only thing it delivers is a strained formula that is overdone and not interesting anymore. The film was poorly done with no redeeming qualities. The film is poorly done, and they could have done something interesting here, but the film simply falls flat and becomes tiring very quickly. The weakness about this film is the poorly written script, and it feels like they simply just cut and pasted other elements from previous rom-com to make this film. The result is a horrible film, and is one that I found painful to finish, however I managed to do it. This is a definite failure of a comedy, one that a poor cast and poor directing has made this film a film to avoid. I hated this film. I thought it was a waste of time I wish they would stop making romantic comedies because it's always predictable despite a different twist on a familiar story. This film was horrible and the only I can recommend you is to avoid this. Sandra Bullock is better than this. Even Ryan Reynolds. However in this film they're awful. The Proposal is a cliché riddled film that is not worth your time. Watch Bridesmaids instead, you're time will be better spent watching that film that this piece of garbage.

Completely ridiculous storyline, but completely entertaining nonetheless. Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds have great chemistry together, and Betty White is hilarious!

Funny at times, but I forgot this movie in a day. Self centered Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the boss at a huge book publishing company, and when she is threatened of being deported she forces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her or else he will lose his... read more job. Sandra Bullock is the main reason to watch this, she is hilarious and the perfect choice. Ryan Reynolds seems to just be reading off a script, he really bored me. The plot is an average rom com, they aren't in love but then discover they love eachother, and the whole deportation thing is really cliche. But the reason I gave this 2.5 stars is because its cliche and very dumb at times, but its good fun and it has some great laughs during it, and I miss Sandra Bullocks good old fashion romantic comedies.

    Here comes the bribe...

Saw it again! Good movie! I liked it, was a pretty good chick flick, kinda funny too at times. Nice cast to go along a nice story.

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books, who forces her... read more assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada. He grudgingly accepts, under the condition that he is promoted to the position of editor. When the government investigates, the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie. The family suggest they could marry the same weekend, and they reluctantly accept. They start to fall genuinely in love as they spend more and more time together. Because of this, during the wedding ceremony, Margaret decides she cannot do this to Andrew and confesses the business arrangement in front of everyone--including the immigration officer handling their case. She is then told that she has 24 hours to get back to Canada, and thus goes back to New York to pack her things. Upon doing so, however, Andrew shows up at the office and confesses his love for her in front of the entire office staff, proposing marriage all over again.

Only a charisma piece but there's oodles of that charisma. You'll hate yourself for liking it.

One of the best rom coms ever made. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock are made for eachother, such a beautiful and extremely funny film.

It's impossible to guess why Bullock was ever attracted to this insulting role, and the eternally confident Reynolds is miscast as a young, bullied underling. Full Review

Shamelessly derivative, contrived and predictable, The Proposal is nonetheless a crowd-pleasing romantic comedy. Full Review

The Proposal is just a good old-fashioned romance, one in which people actually bring out the best in one another rather than the worst. How novel is that? Full Review

A romantic comedy doesn't need to be original to be enjoyable, and yet The Proposal still falls way too short of the mark. Full Review
