There are a lot of amazing sports movies out there, but few are as moving as "The Pride of the Yankees." Lou Gehrig comes to life in this historically accurate biopic that focuses more on Gehrig's relationships than his sports successes. It creates a lasting memory of "the man,... read more

As much as I dislike the Yankees, Gary Cooper's performance is so good even someone like me can't ignore this film's greatness.

Lou Gehrig will forever be an American icon and should be an example to all athletes. Great story about one of the best ever. Plus, Babe Ruth is in it so it's always a winner!
Critic Reviews
For baseball and non-baseball fan alike, this sentimental, romantic saga of the NY kid who rose to the baseball heights and later met such a tragic end is well worth seeing. Full Review
As a simple, moving story with an ironic heart-tug at the end, it serves as a fitting memorial to the real Lou, who called himself the luckiest man alive. Full Review
Gary Cooper gives a splendid, Oscar-nominated performance as lou Gehrig in Sam Wood's nostalgic but touching biopic of the Iron man, first baseman of the NY Yankess. Full Review
Heartwarming baseball classic for tweens and up. Full Review
Classic.
A insistência do filme em retratar Gehrig (um ano após sua morte) de forma unidimensionalmente heróica é tão grande que ele acaba sendo protagonizado por simples caricaturas.
