Totally cut off from the other allied troops, unaware of their vulnerability, and barraged by "friendly fire," the 500-plus men of the 308th bravely hold their position, suffering incredible losses and unspeakable deprivations in the process -- while the battalion's superior officers, far from the firing line, callously prepare to write off the men as expendable casualties. Fairly graphic and horrifying by basic-cable standards, The Lost Battalion was filmed on-location in Luxembourg, and made its American TV debut courtesy of the A&E Channel on December 2, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

You can see many differences in how WWI and WWII were fought in this movie. Rick Schroder did a fantastic job in this movie based on a true story.

This was rather graphic but it's a true account of our WWI battle against the Germans in the Argonne Forest.

We had to watch this movie in high school but I would watch it anyway. Its a great movie about a story I had never heard from the first world war.

WWI movies are uncommon. A WWI movie this good is even more uncommon. A well-made rendition of the American soldier's short-lived but valiant contributions to the Great War. The production is very impressive considering this is a made-for-TV film. The acting is generally good but... read more I felt that the diverse ethnicities stereotype (especially the inevitable New Yorkers) and the uncaring general stereotype were a bit overdone. What really impressed me was the take on the Germans. They are shown as hard-fighting, competent, and honorable soldiers as opposed to merciless brutes, which tends to be the norm in world war films shown from the Allied perspective. A splendid war piece, overall.

After reading the book for class, I was like this was an average book. Then we watched the film and I was happy to see it succeed at some parts, but then there was false info in there to, that wasnt in the book. The movie is false compared to the book at parts, but everything el... read morese is there. The action and the blood and also the drama. The Lost Battalion is another movie that you dont really expect anything big, and it really doesnt do anything big. If you read the book, you will probably want to check this one out.
