Lovely, old-style Disney movie a young girl running away in the Great Depression with her only companion is a wolf. Surprisingly unsentimental and enjoyable stuff.

A childhood favorite of mine. Natty is a likeable character - a young, poor tom boy fighting against all odds in the wild and in the streets to reunite with her father. I hadn't seen this film for almost 20 years (not since I was a small child) until rather recently.

Exceptional for a Disney film, realistically told, hardly a Disney trait. It is a bit predictable, but the entire cast is very good. Well produced, good cinematography. The period detail is quite good. Poignant and entertaining.

This was such a good story. Meredith was so great, you really believed her in the role. I love the dog, very good acting by him. It's sad that things like this happened in those times. Kids and parents were separated due to needing money and jobs. It breaks my heart that the grea... read more

My favorite older movie. I love wolves, but it isn't all about him. It's a sad movie, but makes you think 'this is how other people live' (even though it's not the depression). It's a Good movie though.

As Wolf, a dog named Jed gives a forthright and believable performance. Miss Salenger, for her part, gives one, too, and she carries the movie nicely. Full Review
It's nice to see a Disney film that follows the rules of the family-film genre as Walt laid them down. Full Review
This Disney feature is mildly entertaining, boasting great costumes by Wolsky, who was Oscar-nominated for his design. Full Review
Compelling adventure too violent for some kids. Full Review
There's a real sense of period, even if the film does occasionally become over-sentimental. Full Review
Another fondly remembered Disney flick absolutely flushed down the toilet by a pathetic full frame transfer. Sad news indeed. Full Review
Highly satisfying drama set in the 1930s about a courageous young girl's search for her father. Full Review
A solid, action-packed road trip, with heartened performances.
