This was a pretty good movie. Some of the acting was really cheesy, but I thought it was entertaining enough.

Neil Diamond. Do I really need to say anything else? Not the best movie ever made, certainly not the most original, but it's Neil Diamond, people! Neil does a decent job playing Jess Stone, the reluctant cantor with a dream to become a famous singer. It's a serviceable update... read more

I seen this years ago. Yes it is a good movie that tell more or less the difficulties in getting found and getting into the music biz. Kinda' like a biography, if you will...

This wasn't a bad movie because Mr. Neil Diamond was in it. However, it wasn't such a great movie story wise, but I have to give props to Neil.

Mr. Diamond, looking glum and seldom making eye contact with anyone, isn't enough of a focus for the outmoded story. Full Review
Richard Fleischer's direction is appropriately close-in and small, and Diamond himself, while no actor, proves to be a commandingly intense, brooding presence. Full Review
Stick with Jolson's version via 1927. Or even the Danny Thomas take. Skip Neil.
The third and, one hopes, final remake of THE Jazz Singer is the least interesting attempt so far. Full Review
The most cautious soft-rock superstar movie debut you'll ever get to see. Full Review
painfully schmaltzy
Diamond tries his best. Olivier over compensates, but the songs are classic.
The roughest of Diamonds, this will only interest fans of the singer and those with a passion for poor pictures. Full Review
An unintentional laff riot. Olivier is so over the top that it's mesmerizing.
