For all of its inexplicable weirdness, this monster musical from cult filmmaker Ray Dennis Steckler is not only the director's best-paced film, but also his most entertaining. Visiting a carnival with... read more read more... friends, happy-go-lucky Jerry (Steckler appearing as "Cash Flagg") is hypnotized by evil gypsy fortune-teller Madam Estrella (Brett O'Hara) and turned into a zombie murderer. Surprisingly, the most competent parts of this film are the dance numbers at the carnival's nightclub, The Hungry Mouth, with pretty showgirls and flashy costumes, some good singing, and a fun strip act by Erina Enyo. Estrella scars her victims with acid and keeps them in a cage, but they break loose, strangling her and her ugly assistant Ortega (Jack Brady). Jerry, now a scarred killer, escapes to the beach where he is shot by police. Cult-film regular Titus Moody (Pit Stop) appears as a hobo, and rumor has it that James Woods is in the film somewhere as an extra. Steckler's leggy erstwhile wife Carolyn Brandt, who stars in most of his films, plays Marge, an alcoholic dancer who gets so drunk that she falls down during her routines. Incomprehensible Greek actor Atlas King and co-screenwriter Gene Pollock also appear in this odd film, presented in "Hallucinogenic Hypnovision." When it was re-released as Teenage Psycho Meets Bloody Mary, men in zombie masks ran through theaters trying to scare people. Among the cameramen on this cheesy, but exceptionally good-looking production were such luminaries as Joseph V. Mascelli, Vilmos Zsigmond, and Laszlo Kovacs. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

An incredibly strange movie, and not in a good way! The title is enticing, but it doesn't deliver on the story and the acting is atrocious. Most of the movie is taken up by carnival rides and dance numbers. Only watch this in the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 version.

This is a complete load of crap. But it's in the "so bad it's good" category.

I've only ever seen the MST3K version ("Get your Schick into shape!"), hence the extra 1/2 star, but I think it's fair to say, they only improved it.

A truly terrible film with one of the most legendary titles ever conceived! Start with amateurish acting, sloppy editing, poor lighting, and leaden pacing, what more could go wrong? An endless string of song and dance numbers! That's just what you want in a thriller/horror mov... read moreie to ratchet up the tension. I wish this was campier but it's mostly just plain boring. Except for the sidekick's pompadour.

Not really a music, but a strange horror/comedy with musical segments.
This is quite strange and confusing, and the last 20minutes are pure B-flick awesomeosity.
For fans of H.G. Lewis and Ed Wood.

The director should be ashamed of his horrible movie. The musical sessions were laughable, because they lasted too long, and could only be watched with the help of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Once again, the director seemed to have good ideas, but his execution of them was sub-... read morepar and childishly pathetic.

The only thing incredible about it is the incredibly long title, something Steckler seems to have given more thought to than the lame story. Full Review
