What happened to Ryan's career? Another movie where the main character was really dead the whole time? maybe? maybe not? ugh...my head hurts.

    My predicted rating: 3.5 stars

The time travel in this film was merely between two points in time and with an added plot of memory loss this became a story revealed between the two points in time. A bit of a mind bending film with a sudden ending which left me feeling disappoi... read morented after anticipating a big twist.

Unnecessarily complicated to hide a simple twist. I guess Mr. Phillippe owed someone a favor since this movie came after his great performance in Crash! He is a decent actor with poor management and representation!

"A man awakens in a hospital not recalling the last two years as he begins to find out things from his past he discovers his ability to move from the year 2002 to the year 2000. By doing this he meets a link between the two time periods." -- The original butterfly effect?

Yes, When it's done, it's done. There is no chance to change the past.
I think this movie's borrowed from movies like Jacob's Ladder
  • July 15, 2008
I've never liked the idea of test screening movies. The changes they make just end up neutering a movie and making it "safe" for the general masses. But if ever a movie SHOULD have gone through that and gotten feedback to prompt a rewrite and alternate ending, I wish this one h... read moread.

The first half of this movie is spectacular. It's atmospheric, tense, and confusing (in a good way). It kept you guessing the whole way. Much like Memento, it's an intelligent film that makes you watch closely and think. The story could have gone a number of directions.
...but the last half, it all falls apart. They start changing the "rules", the suspense gives way to straight storytelling, and the ending goes a completely different direction than it could have, and SHOULD have. It's not just that I didn't like the ending or that it didn't match my predictions. The problem is the truth is still unclear and viewers are left confused. Too much is left unexplained.

As it is, the film is wasted potential. A good story and a good movie, but one that could have been so much better with a different ending.

Simon (Ryan Philippe) wakes up in a hospital and finds out he has lost two years of his memory. But the surprises had just begun. A woman who seems to know a secret about him introduces herself as his wife. Another tells him that he is in love with her instead. His brother died o... read moref an accident but somehow he feels that he is more connected to it than he may have wanted. Worst of all, after being drugged by a masked hospital staff, he finds himself two years away from where was supposed to be.

This movie reminds me a lot of the Butterfly Effect, except that this one is less exciting.

It has a low-ish rating due to the fact I was pretty bored throughout. The acting was really bad, aside from Stephen Rea who just totally owns in anything.

Anyway, the idea was interesting and was the reason I watched it, but it seemed to drag on too much. I do have to admit t... read morehat I had watched the first five minutes before accidentally reading the ending, but I had already guessed it (pretty much) anyway. So I might've liked it more had I not read that first. I did like, though the editing, and the cuts between 2000 and 2002, they were pretty awesome.

Brilliant film and superb writting. Very tense.

interesting for sure, had elements of The Jacket and Memento in it... pretty well done with a very good ending... i liked it...
