The cast give it their best shot, but they can't save this film from a script full of contrived drama and jarring tone inconsistencies. When the film is trying to be dramatic, it feels like a Lifetime channel movie. The relationships are unbelievable and the family comes across... read more

A cast full of talented people but the characters are so unpleasant why would you want to spend a hour with them.

Heartwarming. Everyone in this film was exceptional. The acting was outstanding and the story was cleverly and beautifully written. You don't except the ending and Sarah Jessica Parker really did have a good role in this film. A must see!

It's always nice to see someone bring his fiance in for the holidays for his family to meet only to have everyone make her feel less than welcomed and come right out and say "we hate you." Not only that but how bad is it for that poor woman's sister to come in and be welcomed ins... read more

It's worth two hours for those who appreciate this kind of workmanlike, low-risk drama. Full Review
A feel-bad holiday film about a repellent family, with a milquetoast dad and a smug, devious harpy of a mom. Full Review
The Family Stone is a lot slyer than you might expect. Full Review
There are cringe-worthy passages and an overly sentimental structure (everyone pairs up so very tidily), but the performances are delightful, and the picture comes together. Full Review
It's movie comfort food - - a few good laughs, a few winks of recognition, a few tears. Full Review
The Family Stone is a satisfying, big-hearted celebration of diversity that will brighten holiday moviegoing - - at least in the blue states.
Good acting only goes so far to salvage a bad script. Full Review
A machine-tooled entertainment that's as fake and flimsy as a plastic Christmas tree. Full Review
