So from my experiences, the original versions of theses from Japan, China, or wherever are usually better. But I will give Jessica Alba props on this one. She convinced me on this one. This movie wasnt overly scary but did have several shiver moments for me. The goosebump types.

The Eye remake is a pointless and unnecessary remake of Jian Gui. Jessica Alba delivers yet a bad performance here, and one that makes you ask the question, why is she even given roles in movies? She's a terrible actress, and in The Eye remake she is most certainly that. The Eye ... read more

I saw The Eye - not this one, but the Pang Brothers' Hong Kong original - about seven years ago when I was in my all things J-Horror phase, and while I found the concept rather unique, there were glaring flaws in the story and in the way the filmmakers decided to deliver their sc... read more

Jessica Alba played an excellent part in this movie, she was over the top. If this was the first and only movie I ever saw of hers I would think she was the best modern actress in movies today. A excellent movie theme. Sydney Wells is blind and she receives a cornea transplant, t... read more

This film starts out feeling like a horror/thriller genre, but slowly develops into more of a mystery film. The acting is weak and the plot is predictable. The film also feels a little too much like The Sixth Sense.

I can see why people panned this one. I don't remember the original being up to a whole heap either, though (although I rented that one so long ago I am sure it was still on video tape, so as you can imagine, don't have a strong memory of it). This was passable, for what it wa... read more

The story was good. And the twist (when the girl realize that the picture and her face doesn't match) was also good.
Critic Reviews
An effective if redundant fright flick.
When it comes to showing something to end the second-rate horror drought, The Eye is blind. Full Review
The most frightening aspect of this supernatural horror film -- a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong thriller -- is that there was a 114-minute version, before someone took pity and snipped it down to a lug... Full Review
Yet another inferior remake of an Asian horror film.
The movie is watchable -- never more gratuitously so than when Alba is filmed showering and slipping into a tank top. But we've been here before, no? Full Review
The most vivid aspect of The Eye is its poster image, that of a huge female eye with a human hand gripping the lower lid from the inside. The least vivid aspect is the way Jessica Alba delivers a simp... Full Review
The Eye is the latest Western deconstruction of a successful Asian horror movie and it is louder and more literal than its inspiration. Full Review
The script is credited to Sebastian Gutierrez, who penned Snakes On a Plane, a movie that knew how to have scares and sex and a bit of fun. What happened? Full Review
