Wes Anderson's 'Darjeeling Limited' is the brilliant director's most mature film, but that is not synonymous with his best. I did not find the film as funny as the gems 'Rushmore' or 'Royal Tenenbaums', not even 'The Life Aquatic'. But it had its strong points of hilarity, emotio... read moren, and substance. The acting trio are engaging, and Yeoman's continued brilliance behind the camera should be duly noted for capturing the beautiful landscape and for making the camerawork interesting on the train. Wes Anderson fans will be guaranteed delight in this film, but for others it may be harder to grasp his style. Either way, 'Darjeeling Limited' is another great film from this innovative director.

Most likely Wes Anderson's most underrated film. A terrific acting trio along with the classic Anderson brand of humor and the most stunning visuals and set pieces than his other films, this is a train ride you definitely won't be disappointed that you took!

I think this may be the most beautifully photographed of all of Anderson's classics. The backdrop of India is amazing and the score featuring the songs of The Kinks is brilliant.

I have to confess here and admit that I love Wes Anderson's work and The Darjeeling Limited is no exception. I see it as sort of a generation movie in regard to the actors: Owen Wilson from Bottle Rocket, Jason Schwartzman from Rushmore, Angelica Huston from The Royal Tenenbaums,... read more Bill Murray from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and now we have Adrien Brody thrown in to the mix. It's a very family-oriented film, even if the plot of the films involves a very broken family. It really is a spiritual journey for the characters and they find a certain amount of closure and a new beginning at the end of the film, but the ride to that place is hilarious and fun, in only the way that Wes Andreson can show it, and we can experience it. He hits it out of the park once again with another mini masterpiece, one that I'll be enjoying years from now. I love everything about the film and I'm thrilled that Criterion got their hands on it for a top-notch Blu-ray release.

I'm not one of three brothers, but if I were, I'd want this type of love-hate, instinctive, irrational relationship.

Three estranged brothers go on a voyage of self discovery in India to reconcile after the death of their father. I've never really "got" Wes Anderson; maybe it's a cultural thing, but his films have always left me a little cold. The Darjeeling limited is another example, although... read more his talent for pleasing visuals is in full effect once more and beautiful landscapes embellished with a palette of vibrant colours means it's always easy on the eye. But once more I couldn't help the feeling that scratching the surface of his work reveals yet more surface. The two-part format felt a little bullshitty and I didn't connect with any of the characters at all. It didn't make me laugh, it didn't make me cry, it didn't make me feel anything; it's just kind of there. In the end The Darjeeling limited in no way offended me but as the credits rolled I was just left mystified as to why it existed at all.

Is "The Darjeeling Limited" self indulgent? Yes. Is "The Darjeeling Limited" overly obvious? Yes. Is "The Darjeeling Limited" technically well constructed? Yes. By now this seems very routine for Wes Anderson, but it is his most mature film, which makes it seems overly simplistic... read more but also grounded. Not terrible but not required viewing either. Adrien Brody is a standout and a scene where the three brothers rescue a trio of children from a river is well done.

    Director: Wes Anderson

Summary: In the wake of their father's death, three brothers (Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman) embar... read morek on a steam-engine journey across India aboard the Darjeeling Limited and attempt to reconnect after years of physical and emotional distance. The trip also opens up old wounds and proves that the base instincts of sibling rivalry can never be completely erased.

My Thoughts: "I honestly didn't think I would like this movie, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Wes Anderson doing what he does best, directing quirky, odd, and funny family drama's. The three leads are great in this and convincing as brothers. The scenery of India is beautiful. The story is interesting and relatable in the sense as we get older, and lose touch with our siblings, you want to reconnect with each other. Unfortunately in this story it took something tragic to make that happen. It's a funny film, but it's also heartfelt and touching at times. Definitely a film worth seeing."

Wes Anderson's most restrained film stylistically is a marvelous, multilayered character dramedy filled with memorable scenes and characters. It may not be on the same level as a "Rushmore" or "The Royal Tenenbaums" but it's pretty close. I've seen the film three times, and with ... read moreevery viewing I've appreciated it more and more. Definately way underrated.

A totally pointless film, whether you?re a fan of Owen Wilson or not you would at least expect this film to be filled with humour and that simply wasn?t the case. The storyline was not strong enough and it didn?t even have enough structure to call it corny.

    Not a recommendation.
