Niemans soon realizes the murder was not an isolated incident when several similarly mangled corpses are discovered. Meanwhile, in a town 150 miles away, a young police investigator, Max Kerkerian (Vincent Cassel), is called in to investigate when the grave of a ten-year-old girl is dug up and ransacked. While interviewing the mother (Dominique Sanda) of the young girl, he crosses paths with Niemans, whose investigation has led him to the same town, and the two men begin to realize a surprising and troubling link between the crimes. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

3 and 3/4's. Pretty good. I'm not really on board with alot of French films, but this was rather enjoyabe. EXCEPT...they threw in some strange fight scene, with an even stranger video game sound effect voice over. MINUS half a point for that lame move....otherwise, pretty decent ... read moremovie.

It's the Silence of the Lambs meets Seven. A first-rate edge of your seat thriller. Spine-tingling, heart-racing and nerve-frying. Chilling and unforgettable. A breathtaking thrill-ride. Interesting, kinda grisly drama about two detectives solving two seemingly unrelated cases in France. Jean Reno and vincent Cassell are two great actors, so that's what drew me into this film. Has a good pace and, although I got a little bit lost I quickly caught up and really en... read morejoyed the ending. Worth watching at least.

Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel deliver solid performances in this intellegent, witty French murder-mystery. Well scripted and nicely scored.

Awesome, awesome, awesome, That?s what I call this film. Its in French with English Subtitles, also has a English dub which if used takes away from the film. The combination of Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel is Explosive on Screen . As far as the other actors, what other actors, t... read morehese two are the movie. This Movie was part of the 2000 San Sebastián International Film Festival and was nominated won the Golden Seashell award. Don't let the date scare you its an excellent movie 4 1/2 Stars. What keeps it from 5 stars, I don't know I guess my mood at the time of viewing. A Dark and gritty thriller. The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières Pourpres) is based on the book 'Red Blood Rivers' by Jean-Christophe Grangè. Jean Reno Plays a Commissioner sent from Paris to look into a grizzly murder. A man has been found hanging 180 meters up a cliff face, it is later learned that he was tortured and left hanging for 5 hrs. Another cop Vincent Cassel is investigating a crime of a desecrated tomb about 60 miles away, as the story unfolds these two crimes intertwine and before you know it they are working together. Lots of action and great scenes to keep you on the edge of your seat. 4 1/2 Stars

Well, I've been surprising by this French movie.. It's been a great detective movie... Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel did a pretty good job in here... And the idea of the story that making this two detective goes alone first then joined in the middle of the movie, just great.. This French speaking, English sub-titled film, was a refreshing enjoyable watch with superb performances by Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel.

The only bad for me is that I don't think it will reach the desired audience purely because of the sub-titles which is a shame.

Some actors are just automatically the moral locus of every scene they're in. They're the major movie stars, and Reno is one of those. Full Review
