Good natured vaudevillean slapstick swashbuckler from the old school, Danny Kaye was one of my favourites as a kid. It probably all looks very lame in today's cynical times, but I'd like to see it again for old times' sake.

The Court Jester is a comic classic, with its hillarious plot, take off of the medieval genre and manic performance by the great comedian Danny Kaye. A garrenteed barrel of laughs that the whole family can enjoy. Get it, got it, good.

Wonderfully deconstructing the swashbuckler genre, poking fun at the films of Errol Flynn in particular, and featuring one of Danny Kaye's best performances, a catalogue of satirical delights, highlighted by Kaye's "pellet with the Poison" bit.
Critic Reviews
In The Court Jester, Funnyman Kaye takes all the laughs he needs, but he takes them when they do not stop the show. Full Review
Some accomplished slapstick, but nothing special. Full Review
A flawlessly executed, beautifully designed genre parody. Full Review
A cracking jest, wonderfully enjoyable. Full Review
With most comedies that were still reveling in the world of Vaudeville despite three decades of separation, The Court Jester throws the kitchen sink at the audience. Full Review
The cleverly written plot is suitable for Kaye's talent. Full Review
Whether it's really watchable depends on what you feel about the charmless Kaye, whose vehicle this is from start to finish. Full Review
