The Corrupter definitely sounds worse than it is but it's still not that great. Yun-Fat Chow and Mark Wahlberg are two very likable actors though, and I believe that helps a lot although both have been far better. Still, historically interesting film, it's the last of its kind po... read more

Insipid and forgettable attempt to imitate Hong Kong cime flicks.

Another of Chow Yun Fat's decent but unspectacular early forays into Hollywood, it has a nice gritty feel and an interesting culture clash backdrop. Not up to the standard of his HK films, but a creditable cop thriller.

Superb action-thriller about life as a cop in the violent and merciless underbelly of New York's Chinatown. Chow Yun-Fat and Mark Wahlberg are cool in the high-octane action blended with a thumping hip-hop soundtrack.

Alright cop/gangster thriller with tones of loyalty and yin/yang - For Chow Yun and Marky Mark fans only.

Not a lot of martial arts but it was still a decent watch...Who would have thought, cop on the take"

If you happen to like movies about dirty cops it's going to interest you, not to mention the constant action.

It actually surpassed my expectations. I thought that since it came in a double pack that it would suck but it really didn't Granted I dont think that Marc Wahlberg and Chow Yun Fat are going to team up again in the future.
Critic Reviews
It's rote baloney, trotting out every dead-stupid cop-movie cliche in the book and doing it colorlessly.
An enjoyable ride!
A half-hearted photograph of the real thing.
Take away all the flash and dazzle, and what you're left with in The Corruptor is a police procedural. Full Review
You probably can't blame Chow for The Corruptor. No way he could outmaneuver the director and the writers. The only thing in The Corruptor more catastrophic than the car chases is the script.
Hard Boiled, directed by the master of the genre, director John Woo, is a cult favorite. The Corruptor isn't in that league. Full Review
James Foley directs with lean, mean stylishness and the charismatic Yun-Fat finally gets a Hollywood vehicle worthy of his talents.
