I dunno why but I do like this disaster film :) yes its totally stupid, totally unrealistic and completely along the lines of 'Armageddon under the earth' but to hell with it! its a fun ride.
Part of this is down to the likeable cast of science bods for me, Eckhart has always ki... read more -

The Core is one perfect example of a terrible film that should've never been made. What's stunning about this film is that it has a good cast of talented actor, aside from D.J. Qualis, who was always a terrible actor. I can't believe the amount of really good actors who acted in ... read more

Action/adventure sci-fi about an intrepid team of scientists who must journey to the center of the earth in order to save the world. I wonder what can happen? Summer movie fun.

i was just waiting for Alan Jacksons "where were you when the world stopped turning" to play over the end-credits.

The only thing that makes this film worthwhile is D.J Qualls. He plays a great and interesting part which holds the film together. The narrative was weak and way too fast moving. One minute they've got no idea what to do and the next they have this massive machine all built and r... read more

I did liked this movie when I watched this. But the whole storyline was so-not-okay. I mean it was a serious type of movie. I learned some stuffs from it. But the thing is, whatever reason they stated was not so agreeable.

I thought it was pretty good as well. Entertaining. A little bit too unrealistic for my taste. I mean really... going to the center of the Earth and surviving the trip, was a bit of a stretch. But then I would be kinda dissapointed as well that the movie would've ended with every... read more
Critic Reviews
[I]t's not campy enough to be consistently entertaining, and it's certainly not exciting or smart enough to be a first-rate sci-fi epic like a Deep Impact. Full Review
Jules Verne this isn't, but it makes for fairly diverting escapist fare. Full Review
There's a marked absence of panic in The Core. Full Review
The Core works because the characters are idiosyncratic enough to seem authentic but not so zany that they seem contrived. Full Review
I never thought I'd see the day when I would write that someone like Qualls acts circles around Tucci, Jenkins or Lindo, some of our best actors. Full Review
Unblushingly tacky and derivative.
This is one shelved project that should have stayed on the shelf.
When taken as an old-fashioned adventure with a comic-book plot, The Core works well. But at 130 minutes it wears out its welcome, and like Earth's balky core, it sputters and stalls. Full Review
The Core is formulaic Hollywood swill done on such an epic scale of incompetency, it must be seen.
