possibly the greatest aussie film ever, the castle is inspired. film in a crazy 14 days, the castle has stood the test of time and is responsible for some of the great aussie catch phrases used today.

Every Aussie's favourite movie - Liz made me watch it Valentine's Day 2005. It's like a movie-version of Neighbours!

This is a great, great comedy that pokes fun at suburban Australian families and their 'way of life'. The screenplay is very clear, it is able to maintain itself to make for a film that has very little movement and development, but manages to still appeal to the audience though i... read moret's satirical humour. While the audience shouldn't be taking any of what happens in the film to heart, it still acts as a comedic insight into 'the Australian working class family', which is what this film accomplishes. Thie is one of the real comedy highlights that has come out from Australia and rightfully become a cult hit.

    So Australian. :)

A kind-hearted, Australian working class, family man fights to keep his home when the nearby airport serves notice they are taking the land for expansion. The story is told through the eyes of the youngest son, a not so bright but always engaged teenager who loves his family and... read more greatly admires his father. While reminiscent of other independent dysfunctional family offerings like Little Miss Sunshine, the Kerrigan family is not so much dysfunctional as they are people of meager means and expectations who are thankful for all they have. The cast does an excellent job of bringing to life the colorful characters.

"Darryl" (Michael Caton) is a kindhearted tow-truck driver who loves his life, family, champion greyhounds and his home that is just outside a busy airport, right under the flight paths of the airliners.

One day, "Darryl" and his neighbors get a letter saying that they must m... read moreove because the airport wants to expand. "Darryl" does not like this, and works his way through the system to try to save his home.

This has to be the least funny movie I have seen in a real long time. I sat in front of my television, and not once did I laugh at this film. I probably saw two spots where they attempted a joke, but the rest of the jokes fell flat on their face.

It is painfully obvious that the movie is low budget. The wardrobes appeared to be outdated by about 10 years, and the cameras didn't move around the set much possibly because they were not full rooms like on some television programs.

The acting in this movie is not good at all. None of the performers stand out in this film, with a slight exception of Caton. There is also extremely little character development.

I didn't even find the soundtrack memorable. I think there was one song I recognized, but everything about this movie is very forgettable.

I think the movie would have worked if it was a "Little man vs. Big corporation" drama. However, what we get is a poor attempt at a comedy.

I noticed that the rest of the reviewers of this movie either really liked or loved it. I on the other hand must say don't even get this one if you see it on the shelves at your local library.

Absolutely hilarious. The Kerrigan family is now one of my favorite screen families. Working-class, down-to-earth, and happy with the simple things. Michael Caton is spot-on as the patriarch who adores his kin, and their love for each other rubbed off on me within the first fi... read moreve minutes. A great David vs Goliath story with genuine, heartfelt laughs throughout. Good on you, Darryl!
