I like when a movie is titled The Break-Up and people actually BREAK UP! Oops. Spoiler alert. And how nice to see Peter Billingsley's doughy face again from A Christmas Story :~)
This isn't a sappy-happy romantic revenge comedy despite its marketing. The semantic misundersta... read more -

Just a movie about a couple who keeps yelling at each other after break-up. Some might not like this movie as it's nothing new to watch. But it's actually taken from reality and most of the parts are really true. They tried to add a bit of comedy in it but I didn't find any of th... read more

This film was awful, one of Jennifer Annistons worst. When a couple can't stand eachother anymore, they break up but both refuse to move out. The plot was very boring, we all know what happens at the end, and it wasn't a fun ride. The cast was horrible, Vince and Jennifer spen... read more

A very bad film. The Breakup is the perfect example of how not to make a comedy film. The formula for this film was simple, take two "good" actors and put them in a situation where they hate their guts so much that they need to breakup, ok boys that sounds like we got a winner, G... read more

It was aimed to be a comedy; but its actually 90min of people yelling.
This form of comedy was not known to me, so I decided to try out my newly learned comedy lesson on the movie theater people.
They didn't find it funny either. -
May 24, 2010fb733768972The Break-Up serves as one of those laugh only the first time types of movies, because it's only funny to watch, becasue it's all sudden. When you watch it a second time you know whats coming. Plus, the ending sucks!

Some great lines but Vince Vaughn is an idiot which is why he got the part.

It's a really interesting idea and I liked that it wasn't afraid to shy away from being a romantic comedy, but it is extremely obvious that it was unscripted. It would've been nice if the movie didn't come off as a complete improv routine between Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston
Critic Reviews
It's not a good sign when a movie is called The Break-Up and you can't wait for the couple to split so they'll get some relief from one another, and give the audience some relief from them. Full Review
One seemingly terminal problem with the casting of Ms. Aniston and Mr. Vaughn is that neither of their careers has featured characters who excelled at one-to-one relationships with the opposite sex. Full Review
Vince Vaughn kills me. Jennifer Aniston, I think, is underrated as a film actress. Full Review
The movie offers nothing funny, just a series of sour situations. Full Review
It's the most interesting spin on domestic strife since Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner were hurling dishes at each other in The War of the Roses. Full Review
In short, The Break-Up is too accurate to be light-hearted, too light and flippant to be really romantic. Full Review
A romantic comedy that's short on both romance and comedy. Full Review
With a movie unwilling to go for the jugular, it's more like the dismal The Story of Us than The War of the Roses.
I don't know if The Break-Up qualifies as a date movie. But it will serve as a cautionary tale for couples falling in love. Full Review
