When British elementary school teacher Anna Montgomery arrives in the dusty town and first meets the depressed and frequently angry youths, she immediately knows she must do something to somehow make them feel better about themselves and so decides to enroll them into a soccer league. Naturally the kids are at first awful and are soundly pummeled during their first game. Fortunately, former high school football champ, Deputy Sheriff Tom Palmer decides to give the pretty and single Anna a helping hand, and between the two of them manage to whip the kids into shape so they can beat the arrogant state champion team, helmed by Palmer's old rival Jay Huffer. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Even as a kid I knew this film was cliched and derivative. I happened to see it again the other day, and wow, it's worse than I remember. Sure, I did chuckle a few times, but man, the actng really is bad, and not just from the kids. It's a feel good story, but damn, it just offers... read more nothing new and seems kind pointless.

A sports team packed with lovable misfits overcomes wacky antics, random problems and extreme adversity and somehow manages to defeat the top team in the league.

Plot of every sports movie? Yeah, pretty much. The Big Green is an exercise in numbing ineptness.

They have to be running out of childrens' sports underdog films by now... Right? Hell, soccer isn't even that popular in the states.

Hey....it's that movie featuring a small town soccer team battling against rival teams! It's called "The Big Green", which I have no idea what this means. Maybe "The Big Green" means everybody in the soccer team wears green? Probably. Anyway....it was a great sports movie!

Safe for kids to watch and it is funny all about some kids that are to pore to join a real soccer group but in the end they become one of the greatest in there league

i love how quirky and fun this movie can be while still retaining a "true" story line and a real goal.

Such a cute story, great cast, and funny.
This movie got my nephew into soccer and showed him it was alright to have red hair and freckles, bonus!

Exactly what you'd expect from a kid's soccer flick: lots of balls being kicked.
