The only reason I ended up watching this was because it was the only thing on Showtime. I'm actually thought it was fun and cute. Alex O'Loughlin is such a babe.. too bad his costar was Jennifer Lopez.

Was much better than I expected. Actually one of my favourite chick flicks and I never thought I'd say that about this film until the ending. The ending was quite funny and left me with a smile on my face. It also helps that Alex O'Loughlin is absolutely gorgeous too look at it a... read more

I could totally pan this, but it would be way too easy. So first of all, the things I liked about it: the cute dog on wheels, the hilarious father of 3 in the park, Jlo's sharp tounged best friend. What I hated about it: everything else.
First of all, stupid unrealistic story l... read more -

Hilarious and sometimes ridiculous romantic-comedy about beautiful Jennifer Lopez as Zoe, who's biological clock is pounding and decides with her bad luck with men to go ahead with artificial insemination. This movie is funny, a bit touching, and a family tale about trusting the ... read more

Ok... warning... I will be honest in a crude way - this movie is like masturbating with a cheese-grater... any pleasure is drowned by the pain. I think it was written by a junior high kid, directed by a high schooler and produced with some rich college kid's trust fund money. ... read more

It was better than I thought it was gonna be, it had some funny moments and J-Lo as always sexy hot. Pregnancy is no small deal is a huge deal LOL.
In New York, the former executive and presently owner of a pet shop Zoe has no boy-friend and only a couple of friends since she ha... read more -

I liked how the husbands were angry with the pillow and literally cursing it. That was hilarious. There were some funny moments that will make you laugh out loud. But one weird thing was when Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) fell on the cab's seat (as she couldn't get in), I me... read more

It was soooooooooooooooo cheesy... I was expecting something funny, but J Lo seemed to be trying too hard to be funny and cute and her friend was annoying as hell. Everything felt rushed and I didn't really see the chemistry between her and the boyfriend. Eh.

Yeah, it was not good. If you predicted it was a crappy movie, you are not psychic, but at least intuitive.

It's nice to have Jennifer Lopez back on the big screen - delivering the lines and handling the slapstick with ease. Here's hoping she has a hit on her hands and doesn't need a back-up plan.
Critic Reviews
Lopez does a fine job mortifying herself in pursuit of physical humor. Full Review
It's no big surprise that Lopez can still get laughs; she has a relaxed way with the camera that has mellowed and ripened over the years. Full Review
To prep for The Back-up Plan, shed all notions of how grown-ups behave in the real world. Full Review
Someone involved in the making of The Back-Up Plan, a not very good and yet painless waste of time, has certainly thought through some life and love questions.
The Back-Up Plan's blunt honesty about the messiness of pregnancy is refreshing. It's a shame that the movie couldn't find a similarly refreshing way to tell its uninspired love story. Full Review
Lopez, appearing in her first rom-com since Monster-in-Law five years ago, is still a likable screen presence who throws herself into the movie's slapstick sequences with unwarranted enthusiasm. Full Review
It shows us Jenny from the Block is still flawlessly beautiful, while proving the theory that Hollywood is working on its last and only idea in the romantic-comedy genre. Full Review
Lopez works visibly hard to keep things light, while O'Loughlin's flat performance suggests that he's either deeply uncomfortable or just struggling to hide his Australian accent. Full Review
