Recognized as the godfather of Gangsta rap, Ice-T is granted unparalleled access to the personal lives of the masters of this artform that he credits for saving his life. Interspersed with the performers' insightful, touching, and often funny revelations are classic raps, freestyle rhymes, and never before heard a cappellas straight from the mouths of the creators. What emerges is a better understanding of, and a tribute to, an original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation. -- (C) Official Site

A must watch for any hip hop fan, because you got the masters talking about how they feel about their craft. Also if you're not a fan of hip hop, I think it's a documentary that might shed some light for you. I personally love hip hop so this was a treat for me.

This movie is a who's who of Hip-Hop, explaining their craft. This is a documentary that anyone that loves rap needs to watch. I just wish that there would be a way to buy the outtakes, as there were so many rappers in this documentary.

Eric B and Rakim taught us not to sweat the technique but the point of this documentary is to sweat it profusely. Ice-T tries to get into every rapper's head that he talks to and tries to dissect the process that each one comes up with in writing lyrics (which you can imagine is ... read moreas different as every rapper he talks to) and how they react when they hear a great rhyme from another MC. A labor of love that looks into the craft of the biggest pillar of hip hop....providing glimpses of what hip hop was about and ,hopefully, provides a guiding light on where it should be going.
