    So my girlfriend and I watched this movie because she likes High School Musical. Let me say that even though I can't stand that one either I would GLADLY watch that one over this one EVERY time. This movie was atrocious. The singing is exactly how you expect it to be and the acti... read moreng even worse. The cinematography is average at best, the sound is off, and the costumes outrageous. The story hardly makes sense and the plot even less than that. Autumn Reeser is in it so I thought "Oh cool, The O.C. girl!" but no, she is terrible in this one. Not as bad as the main characters (and their lame friends) but still bad. The story follows a singing janitor in a mall where an aspiring piano playing singer/songwriter catches his eye. Of course they can't be together or give each other what the other needs to succeed so thus lies the conflict - love or success? With misleading editing, incoherent plot lines and terrible acting makes this movie a TOTAL bust. The reason for the extra half star is because the transitions from day to night are actually pretty cool. However, let this not distract you - it's terrible. Honestly. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E!     OMG...Neil from So You Think You Can Dance is in it and the i loved the movie..the dance moves were kinda cool as well...AHHHHH I LOVE U NEIL!!!! lol XD

    This is another one of those movies that everyone else seems to not like, that I think is great. Yes there is obvious lip singing, bad outfits, and cheesey parts, but to me it was great. It has songs to dance and song along to, and other parts that make you wanna say 'Aww.' I tho... read moreught it was great for my taste.

    Embodying the worst aspects of High School Musical and MTV, along with displaying soap opera-styled shallowness, The American Mall is nothing more than a vapid excuse for some poor song-and-dance numbers with no purpose to lame excuse of a plot and trying to give unneeded (and, s... read moreeeing how bad the singing actually is, unwanted) music careers for its untalented "stars".

    Nina Debrov actually approaches something close to real feeling, but her weird vocal inflections (that not only change from song to song, but actually come up within the songs themselves!) undercut her adequate performance.

    The rest are shallow, vapid caricatures that don't deserve being mentioned because they all sorta meld together with nothing to differentiate themselves or to make them real people. Some you will recognize from their T.V. work, such as Autumn Reeser (the incredibly annoying Taylor Townsend from the now defunct series the O.C.), so its safe to say that their characters here are only different from them in name only, as they do nothing different from their past work (Reeser come on down).

    In the end, its just a shallow film that seems to just be an excuse for marketing its stars music careers than being a musical-tinged film. Unfortunately, the bad script, bad acting, and crappy music that sounds like HSM-lite keep it from being nothing more than an annoying trifle. This is the kind of movie that lowers the I.Q. of anyone who has the unfortunately displeasure of viewing it. Just avoid it if you can. Your brain cells will thank you

    THe singing was awesome but u could tell they were lip synching and the grapics were sort of unrealistic.
