Robert Rodriguez you are so stupid sometimes. The plot of this movie is about a kid with shark powers and a girl with lava powers who try to save a wimpy kid. This film was truly god awful, and the only reason anyone saw it because it was 3D. Its only competition at the box of... read more

You know, it seems like I lose less and less respect for Robert Rodriguez every time he tries to make a children's film. This was horrible in every sense of the word. The acting was by far the worst I've ever seen, the plot is stupid, the special affects are lame. It just has no ... read more

The 3D effects are gimmicky, the story is kinda lame, and in my opinion, Robert Rodriguez's worst family movie of all time. But a good family movie.

A boy with a hyperactive imagination dreams up the superheroes Sharkboy and Lavagirl; when his dream journal is stolen, their home is taken over by tyrants, and so they appear and drag him into his own dream world to set things right. It's a fast-paced kids movie with lots of pr... read more

This is quite like Robert Rodriguez's Spy Kids series with the heroes' actions and special effects and mostly entertaining for the kids. I thought this is just good, but quite bit ridiculous. I used to watch this on 2-D because I'm not interested to use 3-D in this worst f... read more

This was truly terrible. It's nice that Rodriguez wants to make films for kids based on the dreams of his son, but that's no excuse for such a sloppy, annoying film. It bright and obnoxious, constantly being in your face, even when viewed in 2-D. The effects are some of the worst... read more

when i watch a movie with my kids the test is whether or not the film can entertain my kids and whether or not i can tolerate it. the goods kids movies do both, this movie got one out of two. creative and fun, but unforgivably annoying.

A half-baked world no kid would want to visit. Full Review
Nothing's scary, and everything's so light it's on the verge of evaporating. Full Review
Shark Boy and Lava Girl have about as much appeal as a dogfish and a melting Barbie doll. Full Review
Parental pride may have clouded Rodriguez's judgment. Full Review
The movie is unbelievably ugly. The garish colors Rodriguez loves so much wash out in 3-D. Full Review
You can't get this kind of full-on sensory-jolt anywhere else, not legally anyway.
The low-tech film looks like a kid's crude drawing, plays like entry-level Game Boy, and is about as nourishing as a Tootsie Pop. Full Review
Squinting through cardboard glasses you get at the door, you see washed-out colors, blurred images and not enough pop-out to merit the trade-off. Full Review
