Ichabod and Mr. Toad is a two-part Walt Disney cartoon feature based on a pair of well known stories. The first half of the film is an adaptation of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, al... read more read more...l about gawky 17th century schoolteacher Ichabod Crane and his love for the beautiful Katrina. The girl's vengeful ex-beau Brom Bones decides to scare Ichabod out of Sleepy Hollow by filling the impressionable teacher's brain with stories about the ghostly Headless Horseman--who of course makes an appearance that very night! The second half of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is based on the "Toad of Toad Hall" stories from Kenneth Grahame's The Wind and the Willows. The aristocratic but childish Mr. Toad loves motorcars, but his affection leads him to a jail term when he is accused of stealing an automobile. It's up to Toad's faithful friends to break Toad out of jail and expose the real crooks. One of Disney's better "omnibus" cartoon features, Ichabod and Mr. Toad is enhanced by the narrative skills of Bing Crosby in the Ichabod segment and Basil Rathbone in the Mr. Toad sequence. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

As my old worn out vhs copy will tell you, I've been a long time fan of this glorious double feature. It combines two great stories and presents them in a near perfect form. Mr. Toad's segment is much like it's character; all kinds of crazy. At heart, it's just the adventures of ... read morea jolly little British Toad. The Sleepy Hollow segment is definitely something beautiful and one of the greatest spooky stories that's ever been properly adapted on an animated platform. Sure it has light-hearted moments, but I remember that it used to have some genuinely scary parts for kids. In truth, there's absolutely no reason these two stories should be presented together, but it sort've just works.

Why did they get together good actors for such a stupid Disney movie? I don't know but they seem to do that a lot, and this movie is no different.

Fabulously narrated by Bing Crosby (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow) and Basil Rathbone (The Wind in the Willows) The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad tells two classic tales both animated famously. So awesome! I loved this as a child and still love it now. Mr. Toad is funny and the Ichabod (a.k.a.Sleepy Hollow) story is an awesome watch during Halloween.
