The story concerns arch-enemy Shredder, who kidnaps nutty professor Jordan Perry David Warner, the man who invented the infamous ooze, in order to use the ooze to destroy the Turtles. Shredder enlists his hapless German shepherd puppy named Rahzar and a baby snapping turtle named Toko and dips them in the ooze to turn them into horrible and imposing ninja warriors. But on the Turtles' side is proficient kick-boxing pizza boy Keno (Ernie Reyes Jr.), who uses his moves to help the Turtles stop Shredder and his monster warriors. ~ Paul Brenner, Rovi

When the original TMNT movie came out, parents were enraged at the studio for making such a dark and violent kids film. The "snowflake" generation, as my generation is called, had to deal with our parents freaking out about how us children shouldn't be exposed to such issues as a... read moredolescent rebellion, crime, family division, and corrupt authority, real issues affecting the real world. My generation's parents wanted us children bubble wrapped. So what did the studio do for the sequel? They upped the childish banter, and made the film a light, comedic, ridiculous as fuck kids film.
The typical fight scenes have the Foot Soldiers gathered around a Turtle. One fights the Turtle while the other twelve watch and wait their turn. The Turtles now bicker, banter, and joke around like a group of clueless teenagers. These aren't the Turtles from the first film; worried about their survival. Here, they can walk into a grocery store and buy chips.
The film's epic bad climax features the Turtles fighting their foes in a club with Vanilla Ice improvising a "Ninja Rap" that has also been magically pre-taped so all he has to do is lip sync. The film allows kids to cheer the Turtles on, and really that's what it's all about. It's a shame parents would rather have their kids watch a toned down version of the Ninja Turtles, but what can you do. I watched this movie so many times as a kid, I could recite the whole movie word for word, and I turned out okay....I think....

While it is nowhere near the brilliance of the first film, it is still a very fun movie with a lot to love. It is a lot more light-hearted and campy, but it somehow works. The birth of Super Shedder and Toka and Razar (aka Beebop and Rocksteady) are worth the movie.

This one would make the turtles curdle, become infertile, and smell like my aunt Mertle

Secret of the Ooze was a decent sequal. It holds the classic turtles attitude still with a new twist on Shredar becoming "Super", while giving a great background on how the turtles became as well.

I loved it as kid, but I don't think i'll be popping in my VHS copy anytime soon. Still, for old times sake i'll give it three stars.

This is an example of a sequel that I enjoyed over the original. It isn't a whole lot better, but since the first one was awesome, I guess you could say that this one is better than awesome.

The story isn't as deep or strong as the first one, but it is definitely more fun and

... read moreentertaining. There isn't the need to really build up the turtles since it was done in the first film, so they had the room to play around with the turtles by giving them more comedic dialogue. Way funnier than the first film, although I did miss the funny antics of Casey Jones. You also get Vanilla Ice at the ending of this film. The highlight of his career in my opinion.

The acting is just as good as the first and the same goes for the animatronics. Once again the turtles did have their own distinct personalities and great voice over work. As I mentioned above, I did miss Casey Jones and I also thought Judith Hoag did a better job as April O'Neil from the first film. Paige Turco did a nice job though.

There is much more action in this film as well as better choreography. The film does a nice job at distributing the fights throughout the film as well. Not only do the turtles fight, but Ernie Reyes Jr. gets to display some nice moves in this film too. My only real complaint is that there should have been more usage of the turtle's weapons in the fights, maybe even during the movie.

Fans of the first film will most likely enjoy this and children will fall in love the turtles. A great family film with a good soundtrack, which was also better than the first.

Neither as fun nor as faithful to the spirit of the original comics. It's a bigger, slicker movie, but not a better one. Full Review

One can have a reasonably amusing time with this predictable sequel, which is a bit longer on action and shorter on wit and character than the original. Full Review
