Oh my god Esther Williams is SO annoying, no wonder Gene Kelly was hard on her in rehearsal or whatever. Whenever she's off the screen I breathe a sigh of relief, but then she and Gene Kelly have to get together, and then I just want to die inside.

Considering the talent both in front of and behind the camera this is a surprisingly bland albeit colorful musical. Everything is bandbox pretty but there is an uninspired air to the whole enterprise. They do manage to get Williams in the pool once even though the theme of the mo... read more

Cute musical, great cast, especially Betty Garrett, who steals every scene she's in. Some good musical numbers, fine songs. A very pleasant film, well produced, excellent score.

pretty cookie-cutter as far as 40s musicals go...nothing too memorable or stand-outish. Kelly and Sinatra are their usual suave, charming, goofy selves, and Esther Williams makes for a lovely heroine (with only one brief pool scene). the story, of course, was extremely campy an... read more

This was pretty enjoyable....Gene Kelly one of the greatest dancers ever and Frank Sinatra one of the greatest singers. I loved the first half..Funny stuff! Then it went downhill a bit for me but I still liked it and can't believe I haven't seen it til now, wierd!

I love Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra together. It's just a run of the mill musical, but it's still fun.

Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Esther Williams create the perfect movie, made me want to watch it over and over again. The movie is of course sweet and is definitely in the top 3 of Gene and Franks movies together. Recommended to all!!

There is no pretense that Ball Game is anything more than a romp for Kelly's virtuosity. Full Review
It must be said, too, that Mr. Kelly and his side-kick do right nicely by a brisk thing called "Yes, Indeedy," as well as the title song. Full Review
The plot is typical fluff -- Kelly and Sinatra join Esther Williams's baseball team at the turn of the century -- but the production values are, as always, worth the price of admission. Full Review
An enjoyable, snappy period baseball musical comedy. Full Review
It's brilliant music, and the comedy is a snap. Full Review
What matters is the stylish ebullience, and the excellent score by Roger Edens, Adolph Green and Betty Comden. Full Review
The American pastime was never more fun.
Light-as-air Technicolor comedy in which Kelly and Sinatra star as major league players who can hold their own on the dance floor as well as on the pitch. Full Review
