The Richard Connell short story, The Most Dangerous Game, has been adapted for the screen many times. In this updated version, the rapper-actor Ice-T plays Mason, a homeless man whose best friend and ... read more read more...his dog both die on the same day. Cole (Charles S. Dutton, a relief worker, tells Mason that there's a job available that entails leading a hunting expedition in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. The desperate Mason signs on. The hunting party is led by two CIA agents, Burns (Rutger Hauer) and Hawkins (Gary Busey), and it includes a business executive, Wolfe, Sr. (F. Murray Abraham), his son (William McNamara), and a strange Texan, Griffin (John C. McGinley). Mason flies on ahead to prepare the hunting lodge, and there he discovers that he is to be the prey for the hunt, though the hunters at least give him a head start before pursuing. The violent action pits the high-tech hunters, armed with numerous fancy weapons and vehicles, against Mason -- who must rely on his street smarts to escape and turn the tables on the hunting party. ~ Michael Betzold, Rovi

Cole: You know why we're gonna find you Mason? Cause I can smell your stinkin' ass from here.

A hilariously bad action flick that stars Ice-T as a bum, selected to participate in a man hunt on a secluded island. The story is a loose adaptation of The Most Dangerous Game and has ... read moreboth Rutger Hauer and Gary Busey competing for craziest actor of the year and F. An interesting premise, very average movie.

A guilty pleasure film which I am still captivated by. While Ice-T's Mason could have been played by anyone (I think someone like Matt Dillon could have done just as good, if not a better job), I have to give Ice-T credit. Rutger Hauer was excellent as the crazy psycho Burns as w... read moreas the underrated Charles S. Dutton as Cole. I am still in shock that people would take homeless guys hunting and hunt them like they did in this film. In ways, this was Hostel before Hostel but in the wilderness. While the actors were prominent, the script was weak and it needed serious work. However, it was a solid action film worth seeing again.

    midly entertaining.

most of it was boring, but when they got to the hunting part, it was pretty good.

i thought this movie was awesome. i'm not big on testosterone fueled man movies, but this movie was interesting if nothing else. ice-t was fabulous. he's set up by a band of twisted hunters and takes them all out. this is why street smarts are just as valuable in life, if not mor... read moree so, than book smarts. the real world really is a wilderness full of wild animals. most of us are just too domesticated for our own good.

Not as bad as I thought that this was going to be. Quite a quality cast for this. I thought it would have been better if Ice T wouldn't have had that many lines. When he spoke, it didn't feel or seem natural. In the action scenes he wasn't so bad though. Thomas Burns (Rutger Hauer) and Doc Hawkins (Gary Busey) share the same psychotic instincts here. It's just a shame that Hawkins had to die off first. He was actually the most entertaining to watch and carried the plot pretty well. I also thought he was more of a leader than Burn... read mores. After his death, Surviving The Game went to Ice-T as Mason. A suicidal homeless man that was tricked into a game of death as the hunted from five businessmen. He actually turned into the hunter switching the game on them. Something the men did not expect. Then again, it added more enjoyment to their hunt. They finally got a worthy opponent in Mason.

An Ice~T classic joint which relates to life so much, so just try your best in surviving the game of life! That's what's up!

Doc Hawkins: You are missing the best part Mr. Mason. When you are eating the flesh of the pig, look into his little beady eyes. That way you will be devouring his soul.

Ice-T in his best movie. What does that mean? Actually New Jack City was good.
This is his best movie where he plays a homeless man forced to become bait to a bunch of rich hunters...

A guilty pleasure made memorable by a lot of good actors hamming it up as villains.

This thoroughly absurd action flick that thinks it has some sort of social conscience, badly needs a what-the-heck-were-they-thinking smack upside the head to humble it. Full Review

Not a bad twist on "The Most Dangerous Game," but a lot more could have been done with it.

Cheesy take-off of "The Most Dangerous Game," although it's got a lot of low-rent b-movie energy.
