Shortly after being bitten by a genetically altered dragonfly, high-school outcast Rick Riker (Drake Bell) begins to experience a startling transformation. Now Rick's skin is as strong as steel, and he possesses the strength of ten men. Determined to use his newfound powers to fight crime, Rick creates a special costume and assumes the identity of The Dragonfly -- a fearless crime fighter dedicated to keeping the streets safe for law-abiding citizens. But every superhero needs a nemesis, and after Lou Landers (Christopher McDonald) is caught in the middle of an experiment gone horribly awry, he develops the power to leech the life force out of anyone he meets and becomes the villainous Hourglass. Intent on achieving immortality, the Hourglass attempts to gather as much life force as possible as the noble Dragonfly sets out to take down his archenemy and realize his destiny as a true hero. Craig Mazin writes and directs this high-flying spoof featuring Tracy Morgan, Pamela Anderson, Leslie Nielsen, Marion Ross, Jeffrey Tambor, and Regina Hall. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Less of a disaster than Epic Movie, but still a crappily written slapstick-cavalcade with hardly a single good joke to offer. Anyone who finds this hilarious is obviously a few fries short of a Happy Meal. Anyway, seeing as it ended up being one of the worst movies I've ever seen... read more, my word of advice is to avoid it by any means necessary. That is, unless dopey humor and a total lack of comedic timing happens to be to your liking.

This movie was funny...Scary movie writen all over it. You don't know what you get when you watch a movie that says "From 2 of the 5 writers of Scary Movie"....It could be crap. It could be good...It was good this time. Not good like good...but...funny...

Better than other spoof movies but it has to much of a "been there done that" far to familiar feel to it.

Yet another spoof is trundled of the crapola production line, this time its superhero movies that get it....as if they needed it. The whole thing is so so predictable you feel as if you've seen it many times before..and you have. The jokes and prat falls are all the same, the cha... read moreracters are unfunny and all the same and the look is tacky. I really really can't understand why they continue with these, do people really watch em and like em??

The cast in this film is slightly higher than previous efforts, Neilsen is back to add a very slight touch of humour and Tambor, Spiner and David try their best to make this something it isn't...a decent comedy.
The ONLY high point in the entire film is a rather good impersonation of Tom Cruise for a news reel sequence (about 1min long). Its actually extremely good and pretty funny, whoever does it has nailed Cruise perfectly and even looks very similar. That with about two good lines from Neilsen is it. Rent only..maybe.

I must be really dumb for enjoying this movie, espically since I hated Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie, but Bell is just so dumb and awckward that he was perfect, the plot worked somehow for me, and yes it has some very dumb jokes but I'd be lying if I didn't say i laugh eve... read morery time I see it.

It is a spoof movie and really makes me miss Leslie Nielsen that died this year (2010). He was perfect for deadpan spoof comedies.

a very late parody of Spider-Man (2002). I will say one thing... It's not as bad as Meet the Spartans
  • October 7, 2010
The only reason why I gave it one star because it does have some funny moments but wasn't enough to make your day. The poster is pretty deceiving. I don't understand why most of the spoof movies are so pathetic. Their jokes, acting, story, etc everything is so cheap and si... read moremilar.

ok I know this is a bad movie. I know it's stupid. I got a lot of laughs though. I thought it was funny (there were several jokes that didn't work though). when you compare this to other parody movies like date movie, disaster movie, and meet the spartans, this movie isn't so bad... read more. There are a few lively bits, and one joke with an edge: a slap at Stephen Hawking and his computer-drone voice. Mostly, though, this is super-lame. Full Review

It looks for all the world as if writer/director Craig Mazin took the screenplay for Spider-Man, propped it up next to his MacBook, and just went through it, inserting fart gags, pratfalls and the lam... Full Review

Puerile and idiotic it may be, but Superhero Movie is nonetheless smarter than most of its lowbrow brethren in the Hollywood sub-sub-category known as the spoof movie. Full Review

To call Superhero Movie a satire, or even a parody, of the genre specified in its title would be misleading, since those terms imply at least an attempt at wit. But no real mockery is intended by this... Full Review

Superhero Movie would make a decent long-form short on the "Funny or Die" website, but at 85 minutes -- 15 of which are outtake-heavy end credits -- its powers of amiability wear off fast. Full Review
