Cute and witty. Gellar did a fine job and was looking pretty darn adorable. I think Gellar and Baldwin had some good chemistry too. Sweet little film.

Nice chick flick style movie with a darker theme and a bit of an ick factor watching Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin get together. (I mean, honestly, as well as being a control freak, the guy was over twice her character's age!). I did enjoy this movie though and liked th... read moree realistic end to it.

The young and beautiful Brett Eisenberg (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is an up-and-coming assistant editor embarking on her first big job in the New York City whose life becomes changed when she catches the attention of very attractive and charming Archie Knox (Alec Baldwin), the edito... read morer-in-chief for a successful publishing house. They are soon dating despite the fact that she already has a boyfriend and he has a long list of past girlfriends and ex wives and is a lot closer to her dad's age than hers. The lovers soon move in together despite the objections of various folks in their respective lives, though, as expected, it's an affair that's inevitably fraught with complications as Brett's father who she desperately clings to become sick, she got a mean boss to deal with and Archie admits to a few problems.

i really enjoyed this movie. i wasn't sure that i would simply because it was a straight to dvd film (as far as i know) and i had heard that it wasn't all that great. well i will never let that stop me from trying a film again because this is one of the sweetest & most romantic... read moreally realistic movies i've seen. mostly i have to admit because of Sarah Michelle Gellar, if it hadn't been her, well i dunno if i would have liked it as much. she was wonderful, great acting, funny, endearing and i loved her decision at the end of the movie. i really liked how the movie was broken into sections with the little titles for each one, it made it unique and added a little extra something i thought. the soundtrack to this movie is good and goes well with all the events. i really liked it, SMG is amazing.

Don't make short stories into movies...they're short for a reason.

It appears that my beloved SMG/P is persisting with her post-Buffy Lucky Dip approach to choosing films. Lately, her movies tend to be quite clearly either a hit or a miss. Suburban Girl falls somewhere around the halfway mark. Surprisingly, this Straight-to-DVD rom-com (shudder.... read more..) is actually rather charming. The age difference between Gellar and Baldwin isn't too disturbing, and they seem to have quite a natural chemisty between them. And the soundtrack was groovy too. Having said that, it is part of my doomed genre of rom-com and there's nothing amazing or memorable about it such that I could rate it any higher than 2.5 stars. *UPDATE* The director, Marc Klein, gives a really honest audio commentary - he talks about many things that went wrong on the film, and gives some good advice to other first-time directors.

A fantastic movie! Absolutely love it. It's great to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in her own reprising role in a movie. Once again. She gives a phenomenal performance. Brilliant story plot, great music.

Really liked this film. I was very surprised by the chemistry between Alec Baldwin and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Very good performances by both.

barely worth watching for free on Youtube, which I did, but not a total waste. Baldwin was pretty good, but there is a reason why it was direct-to-dvd

The best thing about this May December romance is Alex Baldwin, who gives a compelling performance as the publishing king who keeps a photo album of his ex girlfriends. Full Review

Why would you take a pretty cool title like The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing and sub in a generic, borderline-lame one like Suburban Girl? Full Review

A pleasant surprise. Sarah Michelle Gellar's best work; Baldwin is so good.

Baldwin lifts the scenes he is in, with his brand of easy charm an antidote to occasional outbreaks of cheese in the script. Full Review
