Steal This Movie is an interesting, captivating, and for the most part unknown biopic of Abbie Hoffman. I will watch anything Vincent D'Onorfio is in; no matter if it's a critically acclaimed film like Full Metal Jacket, a television show(Law and Order) or a unknown movie like th... read more

Good movie based on the life of Abbie Hoffman. Most of it is told in flashbacks. A journalist is writing a piece on Abbie Hoffman, and through interviews with him, his wife, friends and lawyers we see what happened to make Abbie go "underground"...which is where he is at the begi... read more

It pains me to give this movie two stars but as a great advocate for Abbie Hoffman and the Yippie movement in general, I cannot condone such an inaccurate representation of the great mans life. Although this movie, on the surface is energetic, informed and entertaining, after rea... read more

True story of the FBI and CIA's illeagal harassment of 1 man for his beliefs and the fact he fought for what he believed in. Funny thing what the cops, FBI and CIA did to him that was illegal back then is quite legal for them to do to us now.

Another reason to mistrust the government. This is about Abbie Hoffman, the founder of the Yippee movement. They could have gone deeper into the characters and story, but it would have been an extremely long movie.
5 outta 5, informative and entertaining

D'onofrio is absolutely fantastic in this role (he is in most). A movie that gets better every time you watch it.

A committed cast but an awkward script and no budget for production niceties. Full Review
D'Onofrio's blunderbuss performance obliterates whatever wit and charm Hoffman had. Full Review
Information enters the screen from too many directions ...This is distracting at first, but the movie smooths out and finds its rhythm, and the closing passages are quite moving. Full Review
Vincent D'Onofrio does capture Hoffman's charisma and nuttiness -- and he's the only reason to resist the temptation to skip this exasperating movie.
For those who regarded Hoffman as the Bugs Bunny of radicalized Amerika, he wasn't the person played by Vincent D'Onofrio in Steal This Movie, good intentions notwithstanding.
Bruce Graham's screenplay ... reduces any of the issues involved to slogans like, 'The personal is political.' Full Review
Very entertaining film based on a true story. Well worth stealing!
