Spriggan rocks! Spectacular action-adventure animation that compelling mix of Raiders of the Lost Ark and James Bond adventures.

Love anime? Love action? Then this is for you. If Michael Bay did an anime movie it would end up something like this. It's a combo of Metal Gear Solid type and James Bond type of characters in a much more bizarre situation. Only the main villain is a bit underwhelming.

OOH!! An adrenaline rush of an anime. Top notch, incredible animation. Fast-paced, adrenaline fueled action. Fresh, original plot. Nuff said.

Spriggan is big on action and small on story. While I enjoyed the gratuitive amounts of violence, the story part had me questioning what was happening. Great if you want a mindless gorefest.

It loses steam when the usual anime cliches kick in towards the third act, but there's some bad-ass set-pieces and setup in this. It was also surprising to find out how much Metal Gear Solid took from this film.

Really awesome anime. The story is friggin insane sure... but the action is rad and the fact they have bad guys named "Fat Man and Little Boy" and yeah... rock on
Critic Reviews
Characterisation is regulation thin, plotting largely nonsensical, 'camerawork' and effects increasingly pyrotechnical until an amazing final light show inside the Ark. Full Review
This animated 1998 actioner about a Japanese superspy out to defend the world's most guarded archaeological secrets from evil Americans has to be seen to be believed. Full Review
The Spriggan are specially trained troops placed all over the world for the purpose of guarding historical artifacts - kinda sci-fi Indiana Joneses if you will. Full Review
Newcomers to anime would be better off checking out the likes of Ghost in the Shell, but fans of the genre won't be disappointed. Full Review
What this one has above many of its stablemates is a storyline that favours fanciful 'reality' over unbridled science-fiction extravaganza. Full Review
Visuals are all that this movie has going for it. If the sound system in your theater dies, it won't make any difference. Full Review
Kawasaki can stage an action sequence with the best of them. Full Review
Though 'Spriggan' manages to be both ludicrously convoluted and peculiarly childish, its worst fault is that it's mind-numbingly violent. Full Review
