The first half of the movie was very good. Why? Because Amazing Fantasy #15 was one of the greatest stories from a comic book and the movie adapted it very well. The other half of it was just as standard as other (comic book) movies . This is a bad sign for the next movie!

Sam Raimi- The Director of the 'Evil Dead' Trilogy, has created a superb beginning chapter for Spider-Man. What it succeeds in is the dark atmospheres and the strength in characters. The highlights are Toby Maguire and Willhem Dafoe. While Maguire gives off a truely confident and... read more

July 27, 2012fb1442511448For a 2002 superhero comic-book film. It was the most visually stunning film of that time. Sam Raimi presented some comedy, some suspense, some peril and some romance. Altogether provided a good mixture to make this film one of the best of all-time. 4.5/5

All the energy, all the talent and all the potential which i once saw in director Sam Raimi's early films goes down the drain here.
What surprises me most with this film is the fact that director Sam Raimi has made two hours of lifeless and artificial nonsense and truns it in th... read more -
July 14, 2012fb100000293612769It's cheesy, yes, and silly at times, but despite its heavy flaws the film is far superior to the 2012 remake as a result of an intriguing villain, better writing, and a higher degree of suspense.

the cast is the problem, and the design for green goblin, but the campiness of the film worked for me and overall i was very entertained.

July 6, 2012fb733768972Even with all it's cheesiness, Sam Raimi's "Spider-man" stands as one of the greatest films of all time in the superhero universe, and it has one of the greatest superhero stories to be told. It may have it's cheesiness running throughout, but who better to present us with that, ... read more

July 3, 2012fb619846742An ambitious and ultimately satisfying superhero saga concerning your everyday nerdy kid who gets bitten by a spider and starts to experience strange changes. While the ending becomes a little cartoon-ish and James Franco doesn't bring a lot to the character of Harry Osbourne, Ma... read more

June 25, 2012fb100000145236770With the new "Amazing Spider Man" movie coming out and relaunching the series, it ultimately makes this movie(and it's two sequels) irrelevant. However, that doesn't make it any less entertaining. Tobey Maguire is Peter Parker(well, Andrew Garfield is now, but it's TBD if he's ... read more

A perfectly serviceable early-summer popcorn picture that will satisfy its core teen constituency and not displease general viewers looking for some disposable entertainment. Full Review
Unfortunately the film, like many of its ilk, is driven by special effects, and there's a serious disconnect between Maguire's sweet-natured dialogue and Spider-Man's pounding violence and stunning ac... Full Review
This accomplished blockbuster announces itself as a stylish piece of pop myth-spinning. Full Review
Raimi gives this unapologetic fluff a mind, a heart and a keen sense of fun.
Despite all the computer-generated effects and highflying superhero theatrics, this roughly $120 million movie is, with few exceptions, remarkable only in its small human touches. Full Review
This is a pure popcorn movie -- the kind of film one can unabashedly enjoy for what it is. Full Review
With disarmingly entertaining movies like this, dare I say, who needs big bad superhero movies?
