Michael (Patrick Dempsey) is a college student invited to spend Christmas vacation in Quebec City with his sweetheart Gabby (Jennifer Connelly) and her family. The wide-eyed Michael sees the city as a... read more read more... fairytale land with the splendid architecture gently dusted by the falling snow. When Michael arrives, Gabby tells him she is breaking up with him, and separate sleeping arrangements are made, and Gabby's mother (Florinda Bolkan) makes sure the visitor adheres to Gabby's wishes. Gabby's eccentric father (Andre Gregory) is an idealistic scholar who likes to work in the nude. Michael isn't lonely for long, as Gabby's two younger sisters show amorous interest in him. Lila Kedrova gives an excellent performance as the slightly daffy grandmother who believes Michael is her late husband. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

This romance movie is slow moving, somewhat funny and entertaining, got some good actors, but in the end not that good.

Not what I was expecting to see. It was drama with a sweet side rather than a romantic comedy. It was alright to see once but wouldn't try to see it again.

A not so steamy bedroom romp, starring a young Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey and Jennifer Connelly as college sweethearts who spend Christmas vacation at her family home in Montreal. Immediately on arrival, Gaby (Connelly) tells Michael (Dempsey) that she doesn't love him anymore. H... read moreer two sisters then try him on for size, but it is granny, who mistakes him for her long dead husband (also named Michael) that steals his heart. Lots of 80's hair, a father who is writing a book in the nude and assorted other eccentrics populate this manor house, but in the end, the story was pretty lame. This viewer kept hoping it would at least rise to the level of camp, but unfortunately, it never quite made it. Recommended for hardcore Patrick Dempsey fans only and only if one desparately wants to see what he would look like as a wet behind the ears twenty-something with the acting chops woefully underdeveloped. Watch Belle Epoque for a much more entertaining treatment of a man choosing between multiple sisters.

What the hell is the point of this movie!?? It's rediculous and BORING! I didn't even care why the family was so crazy.

Dempsey was funny, and it actually wasn't a bad movie. It had a sweet story.
