In this biting comedy satirizing Hollywood cynicism from writer-director Blake Edwards, Felix Farmer (Richard Mulligan) is a motion picture director whose career is on the skids. Having just completed... read more read more... a family musical that is sure to be a $30 million flop, Felix knows that his days are numbered and tries unsuccessfully to commit suicide. When he recovers, Felix suddenly has a brainstorm and hatches a scheme to buy the film back from his studio and lens new scenes that will turn it into a pornographic movie with big stars, a sure-fire box office winner. In order to pull it off, he'll need to convince his female lead and wife, Sally Miles (Julie Andrews, not coincidentally the director's real-life wife) to defy her wholesome, squeaky-clean public image by baring her breasts on film. S.O.B. (1981) was the final film of legendary actor William Holden. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

I mostly watched this to see Julie Andrews 45 yr old boobies. Guess what? They were fantastic! The movie was decent too, but no masterpiece.

I saw this a million years ago but i think i liked it.

This movie has an amazing cast and a great deal of potential but it's a little too all over the place.

But...it has one of my favorite things in the world of movies...Squeaky clean actors I like/love doing/saying inappropriate things!

Julie Andrews appears topless and says ... read moresome bad words and, for me, that makes it almost worth recommending.

A big budget hollywood flop movie about a big budget hollywood flop of a movie, what a concept huh? This was actually really good and its a shame not more people have heard of it, because its one hell of a black comedy about the movie business.

When I first saw this film I couldn't help but notice how chaotic it was. Blake Edwards' comedies are always slapstick, but this movie was more like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Just a storyline that's all over the place or straight out of a Seinfeld episode. At least the cha... read moreracters are interesting. The cast features an ancient-looking William Holden in one of his last roles. he plays a (big surprise here) a womanizing swinger who beds more tail than a fur trapper. There's a young Larry Hagman before he played JR and lost his kidneys. There are all kinds of small bit roles by some notable actors and actresses, including Robert Loggia, Robert Vaughn and Richard Mulligan, who plays a director who can't make Hollywood happy until he dies (sound familiar?) On top of all that you have Julie Andrews doing a topless scene. Yes, you read that right. Mary Poppins is topless in this movie. Think I am lying. Watch it for yourself. No body double, either (And they're really nice!)

For those who ever have been in the movie industry comes Blake Edwards most funniest movie about the business. For fans of satire and films-within-films only!!!!!!

Most people will find this movie a bore. It's really made for filmmakers. This is really the only Blake Edwards movie I like. (Well, "Skin Deep" was ok...)

Caustic, satirical, and one of Blake Edwards' best.

If only it were half as clever as it thinks it is.
