Sweet if minor coming of age comedy drama with a winning performance from Gregg Sulkin as Bernie the young boy who has almost everything that can go wrong leading up to his Bar Mitzvah go wrong. Helena Bonham Carter and Eddie Marsan are effective as his parents. Drags a little bu... read more

A very sweet little film with a good cast, nice story and feel good factor. It wasn't as funny as I'd thought it would be, it's actually more sentimental than that but quite touching all the same.

Pretty good actually, I wasn't sure if it was going to be lame because of the synopsis from the back of the box, but I did actually enjoy it. Every little thing that happens to the poor kid just makes you laugh.

Bernie is the 12 year old invisible child who thinks his Bar Mitzvah will finally provide him with some attention until he learns it will be totally overshadowed by a soccer game. Kinf of slow; good characters; interesting story. Worth a watch.
Critic Reviews
It's labeled a 'true-ish story', and the results are cheeky fun. Full Review
Sixty Six is also about accepting parents with all their frailties, coming to terms with the unfairness of life, and finding a way to switch the focus to the wonders we do have to celebrate. Full Review
The story line sounds plain and simple, but the movie is enlightened by Bernie's impassioned narration and by a gallery of small comic details. Full Review
[Director] Weiland pours so much heart into his autobiographically 'true-ish' story that accessibility is a nonissue. Full Review
Sixty Six may find a niche audience, but instead of depicting a boy's first steps toward manhood -- ceremony aside -- it turns into an uninvolving portrait of self-absorption. Full Review
I think it's a very heartfelt story, but we get the same thing over and over again.
The direction of this autobiographical tale by Paul Weiland (whose lengthy rap sheet runs all the way from Leonard Part 6 to Made of Honor) is less than subtle. Full Review
A dolorous comedy that leans heavily, if inoffensively, on ethnic stereotypes.
This comedy-drama is wafer-thin, but Marsan gives it some heft as an all-too-human father. Full Review
