Calling to mind the whimsical, swinging London comedies of the 1960s, such as the Blake Edwards Pink Panther films and the collaborations of The Beatles with director Richard Lester, this frantic roma... read more read more...ntic comedy is an airy, pop example of the British New Wave. Dylan Dan Futterman and Jez Stuart Townsend are friends from opposite sides of the Atlantic using their special skills -- Dylan is a slick-talking American, while Jez is a humble British computer expert -- to bilk England's wealthy. Both orphans, they plan to accumulate enough pounds to buy the luxurious mansion home they never had as children. Their scams include selling phony voice-recognition software and reinstalling the same insulation into various homes. Into their lives comes Georgie (Kate Beckinsale), a beautiful girl engaged to a rich jerk. Dylan and Jez hire Georgie as a secretary and both fall in love with her, though Jez's feelings are a bit more sincere. At first appalled by her employers' scams, Georgie believes their lie that they intend to give the money to the poor. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

One of the funniest british comedies I ever saw. A very young Kate Beckinsale. A great young cast. Watch this and thank me later.

This movie came out back when I was in college. A few of my friends actually got taken by the college to see it and had to write a review on it. I never had chance to see it in the cinema then, and after I moved to the US I never thought I would see it. However, thanks to oversto... read moreck.com and my bargain hunting, I picked this up for about 3 dollars if I remember correctly.

I am so glad I did buy it. This movie is a diamond in the rough. If you get chance to see it, make sure you do. This is a lighthearted romantic comedy. (Remember 90 percent of the time I can't stand romantic comedies.) It follows a couple of con-men who are trying to save up to buy themselves a stately home. They are both orphans and have dreamed about having a huge house since they were little children. The movie follows them running one scam after another, including a voice-operated computer that is just a shell with a microphone inside it so the screen can be changed from a keyboard remotely, and a scam where they insulate the attics of an entire row of houses by moving the same insulation from one attic to another, passing it along through the gaps between the houses.

The movie has early roles by both Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Dammed, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Van Helsing), both of who save this movie from being just another low budget romantic comedy. They make this movie one of the best I have seen in a long time and is definitely worth checking out.

Quirky lil flick. Two orphins who are scam artists who reel in a cute girl who was innocently empyoed by them.

Dan Futterman, Stuart Townsend and, especially, Kate Beckinsale have enough charisma for this film and a sequel or two.
