A western that keeps true to old-time westerns with the entire plot focusing on "Revenge" and "Blood on hands". All of the actors done a great job, the scenery and music is great as well, but the plot is a bit simple.
While the movie is exciting - especially trying to figure o... read more -

"How'd you get that scar on your throat? Indians?
- No worse. Mormons."
The first thing that came in mind, why I liked this movie was, that the two main characters aren't either good or bad. They're just men.
One is seeking vengeance and the other is trying live with the burden... read more -

A pretty decent western with a quality cast. It is very much a tracking a man on the run film, a very dangerous man as it happens. It is wonderfully shot to as the backdrop changes from the snowy mountains, forests, open plains and into the desert. It gets a little surreal in the... read more

If Seraphim Falls had a richer, more complex story, it would be great. David Von Ancken makes a stunning debut as a director. He worked very hard to squeeze every bit of artistry possible out of this story.

Critic Reviews
The technical revels are arresting, but Seraphim Falls is slow of motive and thin of plot -- a western that dies with its boots on.
Though the chase threatens to go on too long, the suspense remains high because we don't know which man is the real villain, or if there's a villain at all.
Seraphim Falls isn't completely without interest, particularly for those of us who still like Westerns and bemoan their demise almost as much as we bemoan the demise of the movie musical. Full Review
It is not a terrible movie -- its beginning holds a certain promise -- just, finally, an unengaging one. Full Review
The director, David Von Ancken, and his cinematographer, John Toll, do magical things with the ever-shifting light, and there are splendidly weird turns from Anjelica Huston as a snake-oil salesperson... Full Review
Seraphim Falls is a psychological drama with an intriguing ambiguity that challenges the viewer's loyalties and preconceived notions. Full Review
Von Ancken may have begun this by wanting to remember films like High Plains Drifter. But all he ends up doing is reminding us how much better they were. Full Review
... an entertaining Western with some earnest ideas about forgiveness, redemption and the loss of innocents. Full Review
