This is really a lame sports comedy, we've seen so many films like this now, especially with the 70's look going on, its extremely old and cliched. To make things worse this isn't even funny, only two occasions actually made me laugh, the rest of the time its just kinda dull.

The Greatest Fro on Earth
Saw it again! Will Ferrell + Basketball = To me a good comedy which I enjoyed and laughed alot. Easy story to follow and never boring. Nice cast.

Semi Pro is funny and has a bit of heart, and I love Will Ferell, but this film was boring and nothing really happens. Jackie Moon (Will Ferell) is a coach for an ABA team and when he and his team is offered a chance into the NBA, Jackie must pull all his strings to get his team... read more

has a few good moments but nothing that lights my fire in this one....The structure of the film is no different from other sports comedy where the hero and his team act like theyre on top of the world, realize they're a bunch of losers and then try to prove something to themselve... read more

The best performance was ultimately Harrelson's, and the laughs were few and far between.

Semi Pro is an unoriginal, unfunny film that uses recycled humour from Will Ferrell's previous films to create it's brand of comedy. A film that signals yet another death rattle ring for Will Ferrell's tumbling career, Semi Pro is a film thats desperately trying to be funny. What... read more

Honestly Will Ferrells Movies are one of the very frew Movies I think twice before I watch.
Critic Reviews
Judging from this low-scoring sports comedy about the mystique of men with balls, Will Ferrell needs to call a time-out from belly baring to refocus his fan-favorite game of playing clueless male doof... Full Review
You take the Will Ferrell formula and you plug it in, but somehow it just feels kind of uninspired and flat.
There are some ludicrous sight gags and uniquely silly, if foul-mouthed, laughs. The movie falters when it tries to be serious. Fortunately, those moments are few. Full Review
You can't help but marvel, and laugh at, Ferrell's indefatigable enthusiasm and willingness to make a complete ass of himself. Full Review
Ferrell is capable of a great deal more than he's been delivering. It might surprise him to learn that white men can jump. But first they have to try. Full Review
The real problem lies in the character Ferrell is playing. Aside from the unimportant detail that there really were no former disco stars in 1976, the character is vague -- and specificity of characte... Full Review
There isn't enough going on in Semi-Pro, comically or otherwise, to sustain the movie even through its first half-hour. This may be one of the most sluggish sports comedies ever made -- even the suppo... Full Review
Semi-Pro goes up for the dunk and misses the hoop, the backboard and the point. Instead, it manages to both strike out and get sacked. Whose idea was it to remake Slap Shot a la Jerry Lewis? Full Review
For die-hard Ferrell fans, this could be the ultimate test. He has been playing variations of Elf for five years, and his antics have grown as stale as Jackie's socks. Full Review
