a fun caper flick featuring an odd couple on the run from a host of colorful characters. it's very stylish, with a light tone that becomes much darker, reminiscent of a tarantino film. tadanobu asano is dead cool as ever

This has to be my favorite movie of all time. I would say its the Japanese equivalent of Snatch, but much better. Basically a gangster comedy.

Critic Reviews

Falls into the clotheshorse cliché: all dressed up and no place to go. Full Review
The movie is visually impressive, but Ishii's virtuoso style can't overcome the flatness of the comic-book story he's telling. Full Review
A colorful hip updating of the two-on-the-lam motif popular since the 1930s. Full Review
Most of the film relies on music-video velocity that can be a bit too jarring, even for a live-action cartoon. Full Review
Both exceptionally satisfying and enormously entertaining. Full Review
