Richard Pryor

Richard Pryor was one of the most influential comedians of the 1970s. Here, in his first concert film, he is at his caustic, gritty best. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Richard Pryor is one of the most funniest comedians of all times. With a great control in his material, Pryor also is charismatic with the audience, without leave his terrific black humor. Fresh.

This is so funny, Richard Pryor is so sorely missed.

Classic. This film is just one example of why Pryor was a fucking genius and one of the funniset and best comedians of all time.

Could be the best filmed comic stand-up performance of all time.

As others have said, this is the best stand-up performance ever recorded. It sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not. Pryor is a comedic genius, and you can see his influence in every comedian since. He sets the standard. His facial expressions, acting abilities, delivery, etc.... read more, are all top-notch, and he can make even mundane topics such as walking through the woods pee-your-pants hilarious (in fact, he spends a long time talking about the woods, which is a bit puzzling, but hey, it's funny). He also covers completely unrelated topics such as dogs, drugs, family life, boxing, and sex... all the while being hysterically funny. The guy is amazing, and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys stand-up comedy.

This stand-up film is a classic. This film shows the world why Pryor was (and still is) the King of Comedy.

Stand up at it's finest! From Dogs, kids, to monkeys making out in the trees, Richard Pryor gives a comical aspect of everday life.

Richard Pryor raised the bar of concert films. He is the closest to Chalpin we had. Taking true pain and turning it into a joke amongst your friends.
  • October 13, 2006
This flick, filmed during Richard Pryor's '70's heyday, is a good history lesson in comedy. This is R.P. no holds barred- racial jokes, jokes about various family members, dealing with the police, bedroom and bathroom humor- you get the picture. No doubt Richard is the true geniu... read mores of comedy.

I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a stand-up act, and I don't think I've ever learned so much about comedic influences in one sitting. Full Review
