The west coast was a long way off, and when Jess and Nichole decided to stretch their legs at a deserted rest stop they could never have anticipated the terror that awaited them. Now Jess has disappeared, and a savage stranger with a penchant for cruel games has turned up in her place. This is no coincidence, however, and before the day is over Nichole will be forced to fight for her life against a murderous maniac whose creative use of power tools will have her screaming for mercy. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Rest Stop has gotten a lot of flack and I can see why. However the film is not the worst horror film that I've seen. The film is a borderline decent horror film with a cool concept. Of course the film is not the best, but it's not the worst either. The acting is so-so but what ma... read morekes this film worth seeing is the villain. I thought the pickup driver was a good enough villain and really in the current climate of horror, Rest Stop is definitely not the worst film. The film is original, and pretty intense. But at times I'll admit that there was a few parts that were cheesy and could have been better. Rest Stop is nothing truly great, but it's still entertaining enough to keep one interested. The film is not that bad, there is worst horror films out there. Rest Stop is a blood soaked film with enough juicy bits the thrills horror fans. But before watching this, go in with moderate expectations and you may not be disappointed. An entertaining but flawed film, Rest Stop is a decent horrifying ride that has a good concept, but you can clearly see it's limitations on screen. I'd say that this film is good for what it is, and thats a B movie with decent scares. The villain, like I said, made up for it's minimilastic script and mediocre acting from the main actress. For it's flaws, this film is a pretty decent effort, even id it's nothing too spectacular.

    This film makes no sense.

I'll give it one star for the sniffing, because that was seriously creepy.

One of the most ridiculous pieces of gutter trash i've ever seen, it's a disgrace to American Horror. The only redeeming quality was the fact that you get to see Joey Lawrence tortured beyond belief. First he gets hit by a pick-up truck, then gets his legs run over by the same tr... read moreuck, drug into a bathroom and mercy shot in the face. And on the topic of "horror movies that don't contribute much in any sense"...

I really cannot think of anything constructive or interesting to say about Rest Stop. It's dull and the ending is infuriating. My friends and I had more fun discussing the heroine's big chin instead ... read moreof anything the movie itself had to offer. No scares, no tension, not even any horror movie schadenfreude. This is a total waste of time.

Not good on a lot of levels. This copies a lot from other side of the road horror movies so nothing in it feels original. There is also a supernatural element involved that is never addressed or explained.
The acting was sub par and the movie as a whole is very dumb. Avoid thi... read mores one.

Completely illogical script, many "went down the wrong road" cliches. Small setting that makes for the only genuinely jarring emotions. Too many plot twist jump-scare combos. Photography is a little more considerate than expected but on par with anything else and offers no innova... read moretion. Lost my attention a couple times. Two decent gore scenes of footage set in the torture bus, but again setting over gore or filming in terms of what is effective.

This movie was absolutely hysterical. Even the alternate endings and extras were funny, but as a testament to its genre it fails miserably.
The tension is ratcheted up a bit because the setting is plausible, but everything else...not even close.
Right from the start you star... read moret the internal screaming at the characters, "What are you an idiot? Yeah take a swig of that booze that will help you keep your wits. Oh yeah, barricade yourself into a corner that will help. HEY...let's antagonize anyone who might help us."
    The list goes on.
Some of this will make you laugh out loud.
At some point it takes a turn into a surreal place that almost makes it more interesting, but it never gets there. It is just a whole bunch of set ups for tense moments that are more amusing than tension filled.
The cheese factor was quite high and in that arena it earns two stars, but a horror movie this was not.
I have seen reviews about the "gore factor." I watched the unrated version...where was the gore?
The most gore to be found was the "On the bus" extra, everything else was tripe.
    Watch it on a lark.

Crap. Its not scary, the actors suck at their jobs, the dialogue is lame and the plot will make you squirm in anguish. Even supreme leader Chuck Norris will not get this film. Not that recommended actually. Stay as far away from this film as possible.

So many logical flaws in the story, Poor script, And... But I think the main plot wasn't that bad and the sequel can be better than this, So I'm waiting for the second part

That makes me shocking with horror-thriller on the haunting road trip. It looks a bit familiars between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hostel.
