Haven't seen the others in the saga, but this wasn't that good. There were some elements that I enjoyed, but i'll be able to tell more when I see the series in order. Milla Jovovich is not a good actress though.

I was expecting to be disappointed, and in that respect, this movie did not disappoint. Marginally better than the last film, but still not as good as just playing the damn games or watching a Z-budget with a better script and more focus on the zombies instead of bullet-time, ex... read more

I know that Resident Evil: Afterlife is an entertainingly but not originally crafted piece of shit. When it wasn't ripping off The Matrix (shots, bullet time effects, creepy indestructible Agent Smith-like villain) it had me cracking up at how horrifically slick, clean and fashio... read more

Paul W.S. Anderson just keeps popping them out and Resident Evil: Afterlife is everything as expected.
Seen as a continuation from the previous 3 films, this installment makes it easy to piece the necessary information together and then set in motion a 90+ minute story (

I won't pretend these movies are anywhere close to good, but each one has provided some mild, mindless thrills. However, the fourth film in a franchise going nowhere is the first of the series that just says, "To hell with trying to be even remotely real." This is a living video ... read more

There's no horror left, just gloss. And not terribly compelling gloss. But it earned a bunch of money, so expect more.
Critic Reviews
Resident Evil: Afterlife lacks the humanity -- interesting characters, funny one-liners -- that made its predecessors enjoyable B-movies. Full Review
The action is easier to read than in most films of the genre, and therefore more enjoyable. Anderson makes particular use of sets and locations to wring out more bang for the stereoscopic buck. Full Review
Jovovich remains the lone light in the increasingly lackluster videogame-based zombie franchise, which barrels through its fourth installment with a threatened fifth on the way. Full Review
Like pretty much all of Anderson's films, this one is half-baked. The half that's baked isn't too bad, though. Full Review
This witless installment features the usual ultra-slow-motion mayhem and helpful freeze-frames to allow us to admire the extra dimension. Fans will not be happy, however, to learn that Ms. Jovovich is... Full Review
Afterlife is slow-moving but relentless, and judging from a post-credits teaser that promises at yet another sequel, it has an unquenchable appetite for your brain cells. Full Review
It's a humorless movie of morphing zombies (they take on beastly attributes), phoned-in performances and trite dialogue. Full Review
State-of-the-art 3D effects add a welcome dose of visual freshness to the fourth installment of this video game-based franchise. Full Review
The occasional flashes of imagination aside, "Afterlife" epitomizes what movies written largely by software and marketing committees look like Full Review
