What can I say i like Milla. She kicks ass as Alice in all these movies :)

Haven't seen the others in the saga, but this wasn't that good. There were some elements that I enjoyed, but i'll be able to tell more when I see the series in order. Milla Jovovich is not a good actress though.

I was expecting to be disappointed, and in that respect, this movie did not disappoint. Marginally better than the last film, but still not as good as just playing the damn games or watching a Z-budget with a better script and more focus on the zombies instead of bullet-time, ex... read moreplosions, and genetic clones.

I know that Resident Evil: Afterlife is an entertainingly but not originally crafted piece of shit. When it wasn't ripping off The Matrix (shots, bullet time effects, creepy indestructible Agent Smith-like villain) it had me cracking up at how horrifically slick, clean and fashio... read moren-savvy a world that was skull-fucked by a zombie apocalypse can be. I got sucked into Afterbir--Afterlife because I was impressed with how well done the first half hour or so of Resident Evil: Apocalypse was. Of course that one slid into the same puddle of shit where Afterbir--Afterlife resides. Some fun violence, a little foxiness, a few laughs and some serious disappointment (no matter how low your expectations are) are all you can really expect. Oh and a setup for another one, of course. Oh the places you end up when looking when you're desperate for a good zombie movie...

Paul W.S. Anderson just keeps popping them out and Resident Evil: Afterlife is everything as expected.

Seen as a continuation from the previous 3 films, this installment makes it easy to piece the necessary information together and then set in motion a 90+ minute story (

... read moreincluding a scene in the end credits) good enough to stand alone. With that said, things move briskly with a bunch of fade outs to advance the story, which is amusing enough to get by.

The action is stylized with many slow motion shots and objects flying toward the screen, which is obviously put together for 3D purposes. Ultimately, there are only a few moments where any of the action approaches the impressive level.

Many of the characters are uninteresting and that makes them expendable. Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter are the highlights. It is tough to argue with two gorgeous ladies doing all the dirty work.

Resident Evil: Afterlife sets itself as an action oriented film rather than an eerie suspenseful one. That's all there is to it.

I won't pretend these movies are anywhere close to good, but each one has provided some mild, mindless thrills. However, the fourth film in a franchise going nowhere is the first of the series that just says, "To hell with trying to be even remotely real." This is a living video ... read moregame, especially the opening sequence where it's a nonstop barrage of self-conscious visual tricks, hails of bullets, gore, and a general kick in the balls to the laws of physics. I'm not asking for much, but I'd like my mindless violence to be of a quality where it doesn't feel 100 percent gratuitous and, frankly, boring. If every single scene involves someone doing something fantastic, over-the-top, and absurd, then where can my interest go but down? Director Paul W.S. Anderson returns to the series he begot in 2002. Get ready for more zombies, more weird mutant creatures that will act however they damn well feel like, and more Milla Jovovich confusing toughness with cold stares. The action is ripped purely from a video game with no regards for geography, setup, tension, development, or anything that would matter. It's just all flashes of violence one after the other. It's a mostly depressing enterprise. But where do they go from here? The second movie was subtitled "Apocalypse" (little too hasty there), the third "Extinction," and now this one is subtitled, "Afterlife." Is the next one going to be, "Reincarnation"? And the certainty of a fifth movie only adds to my depression level.

Ah . . . well . . . I tell you what. The real reason i wanted to see this is because I wanted to see Milla Jovovich's most recent developments. I've been thinking about adding her to my potential wife list, but I needed to do a final bit of research, you know, just to make sure... read more she should be on that list.

As some of you know who've read my past comments, this list includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Sanaa Lathan, Parminder Nagra, and Norika Fujiwara, to name but four. For that reason, I'm happy to say that I was able to confirm that my dear Ms. Jovovich is someone I'd definitely like to marry. She is now officially on the list : ) I would actually like to congratulate her personally for achieving this honor, but I can't seem to find her phone number. Yet : )

Anyway, one humongous star for Ms. Jovovich. In fact, one star for each incarnation of Ms. Jovovich.

So that's like 300 stars. Sadly, flixster only allows five. So five humongous stars for my possible future wife, although I'll never watch this movie again, and I don't think anyone else should waste their time watching it either. I mean it's reeeally bad. I kid you not. Except for my potential wife, Milla Jovovich, who is reeeeeeeeelly great : )

Can you imagine if her folks had actually had quintuplets, and there were five sisters who were identical. Wow . . . : )

There's no horror left, just gloss. And not terribly compelling gloss. But it earned a bunch of money, so expect more.
