Nick has been enjoying a spicy courtship by mail with a woman named Ashley (Charlize Theron), who has sent him several enticing photos, even though he has been unable to send her any of himself. Rudy and Nick are to be released the same day, but Nick is killed in an altercation with only three days left to serve. Rudy is let out on schedule, and discovers Ashley, unaware that Nick is dead, is waiting for him. Swayed by her beauty, Rudy claims to be Nick, which turn out to be fun until Rudy meets Ashley's brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise). Gabriel runs with a group of outlaws planning on using Nick's knowledge of an Indian gambling casino in Michigan where he once worked in order to stage a massive robbery on Christmas Eve. Rudy soon realizes if keeps on being Nick, he gets to stay with Ashley, but he'll also have to go along with Gabriel's robbery, which could easily land him back in prison -- or get him killed. Clarence Williams III, Danny Trejo and Donal Logue play Gabriel's henchmen; Dennis Farina, Isaac Hayes, and Ashton Kutcher also highlight the supporting cast. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The trap is set. The game is on.

Good movie. This film was entertaining and had a real good story with a very great ending I must say. Really good cast to go along a very good movie is priceless.

After being imprisoned for six years on a grand theft auto charge, Rudy Duncan (B... read moreen Affleck) and his cellmate Nick (James Frain) are finally going to be paroled. After hearing endless stories during his incarceration of Nick's romantic correspondence to a woman named Ashley he has never met (Charlize Theron), Rudy is looking forward to returning to his family and having a fresh cup of hot chocolate. When Nick is killed during a prison riot, Rudy decides to assume Nick's identity upon release from prison and meet up with the unknown woman. Burdened with a base knowledge of Nick's Indian casino employment past, Rudy finds himself in too deep with Ashley's brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise) and is violently forced to cooperate with a casino robbery that Gabriel and his gang have been planning with Nick in mind.

A laughable action film that was actually quite entertaining in it's ridiculousness.

i really liked this film its amusing and is action packed and not a bad storyline so i really enjoyed it!

Ben Affleck is a car thief who steals the identity of his prison cellmate to woo his pen-pal (not surprisingly considering she's played by Charlize Theron.) Unfortunately he doesn't count on her psychotic brother who is intent on using him in a armed robbery. This likeably daft h... read moreeist movie takes a lot of cues from film noir and transplants them into a post Tarantino action film. Affleck is hardly the most charismatic leading man, but with Theron and Gary Sinise's amusing nutjob to play off there's plenty of character dynamics to make up for his shortcomings. It's briskly paced, has just the right combination of action and twists and turns to keep you interested and is tongue in cheek enough to make up for the numerous plot holes. It does lose half a star for it's cornball "happy holidays" epilogue, but otherwise it's a fun slice of trashy nonsense.

A cool fun action film starring the stunning Charlize Theron. A newly released prisoner decides to pretend to be his cellmate when he is due to meet his beautiful pen friend. Things take a twist and he has to do his best to get out of a situation of mistaken identity. Has a good ... read moretwist to!

Really cool action-packed and suspense story of an ex-con Ben Affleck who has been double-crossed after he was released from jail. God, Charlize Theron is so bloody hot.

starts out okay but falls apart as it goes along.

Reindeer Games - John Frankenheimer comes off from the heels of the incredibly exciting 'Ronin' with bar-none the BEST car chases ever to direct a muddled Holiday thriller that should've checked its release date sooner on the calendar. Affleck plays a c... read morear theif mistaken for his prison cell mate and hijacked to teach a band of greasy diner clowns the ins and outs or casino theivin'. The performances are all adequate, though Gary Sinise as the bad trucker seems a little too 'Deliverance' to me at times. The movie permeates with the feeling all the way through that something interesting is building and will pay off, and then it just gives up and goes for a rediculous and cheap twist ending. Ehren Kruger, the man who threw pot holes of twists in 'Arlington Road' and less effectively in 'Scream 3', writes like someone finishing a deadline paper for a college class - less about characters and conflicys and more about topsy-turvy twists and double crossings. There are some brief encounters with suspense and excitement (and forgive me but the Santa imagery is kinda' nifty) but 'Reindeer Games' can never build toward whatever potential it flashed. So instead of asking why Frankenheimer would helm something like this, ask how Charlize felt doing all her topless scenes in the cold. I know I will.

Boiler Room - 'Boiler Room' is like a 'Wall Street' for the dot-com kids, hell they even have a scene where they openly quote and recite 'Glengary Glen Ross'. Giovanni Ribisi plays the son of a judge and the head of a gambling front he runs in his home that decides to cut his teeth in the world of stocks and options. 'Boiler Room' begins as an insightful and well-paced inside look toward the cut-throat world that crunches the numbers and keeps the leg of our economy afloat. I find it fascinating that a good base of our economy is based upon round table rumor and the opinions of a select few. But the brash and stirring scenes of the politics of a sell are then given up when the FBI is introduced and Gio tries to take the company out from its dirty inside. The movie then falls to the wayside of entertainment. 'Boiler Room' is a surprisingly engaging film that decides to go down the wrong path.

Reindeer Games is the sort of movie in which nothing is quite what it seems.

It just vanishes from between your ears like cotton-candy in a tropical rainstorm, leaving nothing but a slightly sickly aftertaste.

The movie is often amusing, thanks to Affleck's excellent deadpan delivery of flippant lines in the face of loaded guns and to Sinise's scenery-chewing villain. Full Review

The chief idiocy of this movie, even allowing for its modest 'B' flick intentions, is its car-wreck of coincidences and contrivances. Full Review
