T.J. stumbles upon a plot hatched by the villainous Dr. Benedict, a former principal who once tried to strike recess from the average school day. Dr. Benedict hatches a scheme to control weather patterns with a specialized laser beam to create a permanent winter, making it impossible for the students to have a summer vacation. T.J. calls in all of his best pals to defeat the villainous Dr. Benedict, as well as recruits the help of the faculty, who willingly join the young students on their crusade for freedom. Recess: School's Out was directed by Chuck Sheetz, who has helmed episodes of The Simpsons and King of the Hill. ~ Jason Clark, Rovi

An extended episode with a rediculous plot that will have the kids laughing and the adults sleeping.

While it is formulaic when stacked up to its television show counterpart, School's Out provides an ambitious plot line noted with a strong antagonist performance by James Woods

How can you not love Recess? Especially with it off the air now, this movie was great to relive one of the greatest and well done cartoons ever made. Hopefully they keep making these movies or at least bring back the show.

It's okay... the TV show is tons better. But the songs are cool, notably "Dancin' in the Street."

Recess was a good show, this movie isn't as good, but it is entertaining enough if you are a kid who liked the show. Luckily the show and the movie were made in a way that parents could sit through it as well.

I don't know if this is a guilty pleasure or not. See, I'm handing it 4 stars and wondering if I should. My decision rested on the fact that I just think it's that damn good. I must be a big fan of the series, watch it whenever it's on. They did right by us fans. This is what the... read more movie should have been and was. Just funnier on a larger scale. It didn't feel like a long episode like some of the cartoon-to-movie ones have, but like a big event in the world of the cartoon, which justifies the movie. I'll tell ya, James Woods doesn't hurt either.

This was a great movie. I personally am a big fan of the TV show, and making it into a movie was the best idea I've ever heard of. I watch this every year the day that school gets out!

This movie has a lot of interesting aspects such as psychedelic sixties flashbacks, ninjas and a fighting Finster.

Passably speedy on the level of other TV retreads that seem miscast on the big screen. Full Review

It's fun, it's kind of somber and it succeeds in making you think about how you might be squandering middle age. Full Review

There are times when I wonder why so much energy is expended finding alternatives to funny animals who hit each other with anvils. Full Review

There's nothing new here, not even the idea of Mikey's singing voice coming from Robert Goulet. Full Review
