Remake of another good japanese horror film. This one wasnt pulled off as good as The Grudge but still came across very well.

What is the deal with remaking excellent horror films? The films are terrific to begin with. There's nothing wrong with them, the only thing is that the American Studios want to cash in on the remake because they're so greedy and don't give a shit about destroying classics. With ... read more

I actually liked this a lot more than I thought I would, basically taking the virtual ghost idea to a new level. A really interesting look is given to the movie which will undoubtedly remind you of The Ring. However, this is way more of a post-apocalyptic premise that was disguis... read more

Not bad, but quite strange scary and has loads with terrifying thrills and gruesome special effects.
Kristen Bell doesn't give a great performance and the rest of the cast with the exception of Ziagler give somewhat good performances.
Horror remake of Japanese's 2001 Kairo. -
January 29, 2010fb733768972What the hell? Are they serious? This piece of crap should have never been made, it has to be one of the dumbest attempt's to scare someone, that I have ever seen!

Compared to every other horror movie that came out of Hollywood this year, this one has some nice touches to it. But watch the original please!!

Turned out to be a pretty good movie, Not as good as the Japanese Version which was made first, but still good, Slow start but Dyamite Ending. The Scene with vader coming out of the Dryer was the best.

An ok horror/thriller based on a Japanese film. It starts ok and you get a real sense of doom and gloom in the way it is made. However it seems to lose direction towards the end. You should like this if you like White Noise, The Ring or Dark Water.

This had such a great premise, but fell really short. I wish they had done more with it.
Critic Reviews
It would have been a lot scarier if the film's college kids, haunted by comrades who stare back at them from cyber-hell, looked like they had lives worth saving. Full Review
The remake begins with the same premise and appropriates the most striking visuals, grafting them onto a more explicable but equally dull George Romero-style doomsday scenario. Full Review
The J-horror remake wheel spins again, spitting out this pathetic Americanization of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's apocalyptic fable. Full Review
The technophobic horror flick Pulse is a cautionary tale that could have been dreamed up by a frustrated parent: If you don't get off of that computer, kids, you'll turn into a zombie. Full Review
Most contemporary Japanese horror movies concentrate on mood and don't much bother with plot. But this brain-dead remake is full of yammering about suicide clusters, flu epidemics and hard drives.
Hideously ugly to look at and not even worth following. Full Review
The American version of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Pulse mimics the plot fundamentals, but lacks any traces of Mr. Kurosawas creepy minimalism and conceptual rigor.
Pulse is most cunning in its overarching theme: What Americans have to fear most are hidden dangers in their midst. Full Review
What's the lesson here? Should we all be talking to each other with two cans and a string? Full Review
