But now they're a long way from home, and when the predators become the prey, fearless mercenary Royce (Adrien Brody) prepares for the fight of his life. And he's not alone, because Mexican gangster Cuchillo (Danny Trejo), Israeli Defense Forces veteran Isabelle (Alice Braga), notorious mass murderer Stans (Walton Goggins), Russian Special Forces operative Nikolai (Oleg Taktarov), RUF death squad member Mombasa (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali), and sword-wielding Yakuza Hanzo (Louis Ozawa Changchien) are all armed to the teeth, and out for blood. The odd man out is Edwin (Topher Grace), a once-prominent physician whose career came to an end following a big scandal. When the motley crew encounters Noland (Laurence Fishburne), a resourceful human who has somehow managed to survive on the alien's hunting grounds for some time, they prepare to take the ultimate stand against the most powerful Predators yet. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

From the off this film is very much in tone with the original Arnie vehicle, the entire musical score is the same as the first film just a little more upbeat and its great, brings the whole thing home and makes you feel comfortable. As the film goes along there are hints at the f... read moreirst film, quite a long speech about it actually, this obviously tells us this is set after 'Predator' but I'm unsure if its before 'Predator 2' (I think after), there is also alittle idea taken from 'AvP' with the Predator wrist gauntlet tech using holographic images as seen in 'AvP'. There are plenty of other references to the first film throughout with scenes being taken straight from 'Predator', cam angles and 'pred vision' shots, dialog being used again....'over here!' 'turn around!' and the plot of course being virtually the same, but it works, this isn't a forced cash-in like 'AvP'.

The plot as said is reworked and very predictable, you know whats gonna happen and you know who's gonna die and survive but that's not a problem, like the first film its been made well and has that gun totting, 80's testosterone filled madness which somehow works haha this film fits perfectly with 'Predator' and 'Predator 2' as it zips along...maybe alittle too fast.

The characters are decent and well acted, Fishburne being the best for me with his crazy ramblings and Goggins being creepy as hell haha unfortunately Brody is miscast and really can't do the hard man routine, both he and Braga try way too hard to be tough or 'Vasquez-like' and its abit cringing at times, personally for me that was a misfire. You do feel some characters needed more time to grow but I guess that could be put down to good writing as you wanna see more of them, Trejo's death was too soon and surprisingly spooky too haha wanted just abit more of him but the idea of a big name going down early is cool. Some things didn't quite work though, the Yakuza sword fight was too dark ('AvP2' sprung too mind) and it seemed abit 'tacked on', Hanzo just stops out of the blue and decides to stand and fight? also the ending reveal with Edwin (Grace) was abit shitty for me, I didn't like how that character turned out. I was also disappointed with Fishburne's character, why did he smoke the rest out? simply because he was mad?? abit odd that.

As for design and looks its 50/50, the Predators look awesome and devilish, they come across as eerie and powerful and their new look designs are really nice, cross pred tech with tribal mercs, almost like Predator bounty hunters, very cool. The super black pred (without mask) jury's still out on that for me, his head seemed too big and he did still look kinda B-movie-ish.
Classic pred was fudging spot on, absolutely perfect and shows what 'AvP's' preds should have looked like damn it, kudos to RR and co for getting that 100%, highlight of the film :)
The down side was the game planet not being very 'alien like', it really didn't come across as an alien world accept for a few minor plants n bugs, could of done more there I think and maybe alittle more of previous hunts too, we had hints at that but I was aching to see other dead alien life and possible hints at Aliens or space jockeys haha maybe some more ancient human remains too (along with the samurai sword).

End of the day I really liked this new Predator chapter, despite some niggles it was damn good and I was pleasantly surprised after much worry hehe
The main issues I had were good ideas that weren't really taken advantage of and explored, Fishburne using predator tech being a glaring example of a seriously cool idea getting wasted. But it wrapped well with the possibility of a sequel to this chapter or of course an entirely new story set in the Predator universe, maybe acknowledging 'Predator 2' this time as it deserves.

It is entirely unforgivable for anyone to call Predators an unworthy reboot. Sure, it has it's flaws but it's still much more entertaining than the Alien vs Predator films and many many other reboots of ... read moreother sucessful movie franchises. I think Nimrod Antal was a great director for this, for those of you who don't know he made the considerably low budget films Vacancy and Armored which I very much liked and those were B style movies. Predators however, his first mega budget picture is Predator gone sophisticated. The characteristic that's made the original film a minor classic is it's cheesiness and so bad it's good tone. This reboot is much darker, louder but technically, it's more expertly made than the previous two. It's not consistently thrilling but it's a fairly efficient reboot. This time around there's a good amount of character development and I think it works perfectly right next to the amazing action sequences. The environments are much more realistic and the aliens more stylish. It's an underated film that's attacked for its flaws but not credited for how it bettered McTiernan's original.

A decent casting line up with the film sticking to it's main intentions of following the previous installments, including references to Predator 1 or 2, can't quite recall, but Adrien makes a strong protagonist and the action is quite brilliant actually.

i Actually preferred this version of predators rather than the original! After the very disappointing Predator 2, I had some concern when a new predator film was announced. However, after finally watching it,I felt not fully satisfied, but found a far more deserved sequel to the orginal monster masterpiece.

Firstly, looking at the positives; Adrien... read more Brody, who plays as Royce, a mercenary and the main character. I can truly say that Brody pulled off a rather impressive performance, along with Lawrence Fishburne and Alice Braga, they give a rather promising cast of actors. The story gave an interesting twist of humans being abducted and hunted, but prehaps used too much from before. I will say that the violence in this film was not up to the high standards left by the first film, but is at a level that has some violent elements that feel very much like the predator would do, such as violently ripping out a human's spine and skull and blowing up a human with a plasma cannon.

Now to look at the negatives. It is fairly predictable to know which characters die and those that survive. Secondly, I remember the first film built up its tension by having the men staring into thin air, knowing something's there. However, this happens only once and the majority is mostly guns blazing action. Going to the intense fighting scenes, I felt disappointed of haw the last two kills are both the same technique of beheading, prehaps having different ideas would've made the fighting moments more interesting to watch. Finally, I kind of knew that Topher Graces character, who is supposedly a helpful doctor turns out to be a psychopath, as the quiet one usually are the violent ones. However,he did give a clever performance.

Predators may not be a great satisfaction to those awaiting a decent sequel, but it gave a better effort in accuracy, action and violence. We can now easily forget the one that should never have been made.

    Positives:
    A Good cast
    Faithful/accurate to the first

    Negatives:
    Quite a few noticeable cliches

Who is the real predator? This sequel follows our world's finest killers being dropped onto a game reserve. The problem is that they're the game. Adrian Brody gives a solid perormance, as usual. And, once again Topher Grace appears as a comical psycho. This movie brings back that... read more spark from the first Predator film. With loads of action and some fun twists, Predators is an excellent sci-fi adventure for the 21st century audience.

Gory, atmospheric and stuffed with great action - everything a Predator movie should be! For while the second sucked more than vacuum and the AVP movies missed the mark, this is a sequel worthy of the name. Not quite as brilliant as the first film (it's just not the same without ... read moreSchwarzenegger), but it definitely shares the same look and feel. With an exception for the CGI bits (which thankfully have been used scarcely), this could just as well have been made in the late 80's. Even the music is very similar to the original soundtrack; giving off an old-school vibe that took me on a pleasant nostalgia trip. It's just too bad the dialogue wasn't given as much thought. There's a lot of interesting characters, but you never get to know them on the depth, nor time enough to care for them. Had a little more work gone into the screenplay, I might have loved this film, instead of just really liking it. Even so, it's still better than I had hoped and two hours of solid entertainment. Kudos to Nimród Antal, for finally bringing us fans the follow-up we've been waiting for.

Taking a nice beginning where you see a man falling from the sky, only to have his parachute automatically activate just as tree tops come into focus, this reboot of the Arnold vehicle doesn't really do anything revolutionary, merely focuses on what the originally film did right ... read moreand stick with the formula. The tension is palpable as these eight random humans first find one another and then try to figure out where they are and why - all the while revealing little idiosyncrasies about each character.

Sure, there are some things that fail to make much sense - as in the original film, but just as this film goes further with what came before, it also makes the gaping holes in logic all the more noticeable (first and foremost, how a society based on pure warriors managed to develop such high tech gadgets - including space travel that is far in advance of what we've been able to come up with).

For the most part the film has a good pace, although there is a lull in the middle while the film doodles around with Lawrence Fishbourne in a goofy cameo - I felt exactly like I felt in the middle of Aliens - that the film almost needed a breather from all the tension shown up to that point.

In all, an interesting story line especially with the addition of uber predators, while the credo of the warrior code runs up against the "no one left behind" mantra.

Predators is an amazing sequel to a dying series, but not a amazing movie to those new to the series. A group of different people are put into a game reserve, on another planet. This planet is inhabited with aliens that a master hunters and must hunt down these people, and the ... read morepeople must think of how to kill them, and they are very strong. Adrien Brody plays the groups leader Royce, and Brody played him very well in my opinion, but just good, he will never do another film like The Pianist. Alice Braga plays Isabele, and I dont think Braga has been in much, but after this I think she'll be in a lot more films. The plot was okay, those who are new to the movie will think its weird, but after the horrible AVP movies, this takes me back to when the original Predators first came out. Overall the acting was good, plot was okay, effects were great, but a very boring movie at times.

A decent reboot to the series. Most of the story events are predictable, but the characters, action scenes, and effects seem to overcome that and make this film enjoyable to watch.
