Semi decent comedy with a few comical parts. Police Academy suffers from the lack of really funny jokes, and never really quite takes off. The film is funny at times, but most of the time you're not laughing, and when there's something that supposed to be funny in the film, you d... read more

Criminally underrated, and as are the sequels (most of them anyhow). Judging from the low ratings on IMDB, it seems a lot of people dislike the whole Police Academy franchise. I can understand if it's not to everyone's humor, but in my opinion they've received an undeserved amoun... read more

It would be a crime not to watch this hilarious 80s movie classic. This movie is one of the funniest comedies ever made. The humor is so goofy, you can't help but to laugh. I would recommend this if your a big fan of G.W. Bailey & Steve Guttenberg. :) You won't be disappointed! :... read more

Gently funny in the most stupid of ways. It's very immature, but in an almost innocent kind of way. It works due to the wide range of frankly bizarre characters. There's no real plot, just a series of events, but the battle of the wits between Bailey and Guttenberg is worth watch... read more

Itâ??s nowhere near being a good movie, but itâ??s so harmless and fun that you canâ??t avoid having fun while watching. Itâ??s got perfectly goofy characters: Hightower, Sound Effects Guy, The Skinhead Brothers, etc. and some really funny jokes that are just flat out bizarre (th... read more

Critic Reviews
Goofy group makes 'Car 54 Where Are You?' seem like Shakespeare.
A tasteless comedy.
A Reagan-era screed against affirmative action, Police Academy warns what misfits and lowlifes wait to pour through the floodgates.
It's harmless stuff, to be sure, but almost invisible, it disappears from memory so fast. A stealth comedy, perhaps? Full Review
You know how people talk about a movie being so bad it's good? Police Academy is that movie. Full Review
Excellent misfit comedy. The R rating gives it edge that the sequels lack.
And it only went downhill from here
One of the worst popular comedies of all time.
