For this animated direct-to-video sequel to Disney's 1995 animated Pocahontas, Irene Bedard returns to the title role -- with Judy Kuhn once again providing Pocahontas' singing voice. The story starts... read more read more... in colonial Jamestown before Pocahontas travels to England to meet with the king in hopes of preventing a British-Indian war. Her guide and companion is royal emissary John Rolfe (Billy Zane). They are attracted to each other, but Pocahontas yearns for John Smith (Donal Gibson, brother of Mel Gibson). After a conflict with the evil Ratcliffe (David Ogden Stiers), the missing Smith is presumed dead. Ratcliffe tells the king that the Jamestown Indians are savages, so Pocahontas enters high society, hoping to prove otherwise by presenting a civilized appearance at the Royal Hunt Ball. Ratcliffe schemes to sabotage Pocahontas' plan. New songs by Marty Panzer and Larry Grossman include the closing-credits tune, Between Two Worlds. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

Surprisingly slightly better than the original but still rather bland. The songs are second rate but few and far between. For a Disney movie it must be praised for being rather brave by not having Pocahontas end up with John Smith. Again it is plagued by too much formula and not ... read moreenough individual charm.

It's a good sequel but if you're looking forward to seeing Smith and Pocahontas at the end then I suggest you don't watch it.

    Classic.

I think this movie was more historically accurate, but that didn't necessarily make it better.

this movie was a mistake.. they destroyed the relationship between John Smith & Pocahontas... why they do that? :(
  • July 16, 2010
The era were sequels were, well, just not as great as the originals. I guess I give some kudos to Disney for attempting to be historically accurate, but it totally destroyed the relationship between Pocahontas and John Smith created in the first movie.

i love this movie to.... but... why does she go for guys wit the name John? i mean John Smith and John Wolf....
  • June 4, 2009
They screwed up the story from what happened in real life and lets face it, it's no longer that interesting without the good songs.

A slapdash effort, with none of gorgeous colors and animation of the first film and little of its emotional resonance. Full Review
