A fun ride like its predecessor setting up what should be a fun finale. Depp, Bloom, and Knightly shine. Good supporting cast as well.

Just as good, if not a little bit better than Curse of the Black Pearl. This time out, the film is longer, the plot more complex (just slightly muddled), and in need of trimming, but honestly, i don't know where to make cuts to this film. The acting is (as always) awesome, the st... read more

Everything Depp does in this movie is completely predictable for all who've seen the first Pirates movie and its packed with even more infectious CGI and its even more stretched than the first one.

The best in the trilogy in my opinion, a polishing in everything that made the first good and bad. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) witnesess Will Turners (Orlando Bloom) father, Bootsrap Bill Turner. He tells Jack that Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) is sending a best after Jack because he ... read more

Seriously dislike this installment. Worst pirates movie (I don't like any of them that much anyway).

The quirky charm of the first film is replaced with a mean-spirited dark tone. Jack Sparrow is no longer the lovable eccentric drunk pirates from the first film. In Pirates 2, he comes across as manipulative jerk. I had trouble liking any of the characters in this film because... read more

May 27, 2011fb100000145236770Even though I think the 1st Pirates movie is the best, this has the most action, and the better effects. The only thing really that holds it back is that it doesn't have an ending, it's just a middle movie. But even for a middle movie, it is fantastic. I think the sword fight ... read more

May 24, 2011fb733768972The second instalment of the unbelievable box office franchise is here, and it even improves over the original. I first though that the original was just an amazing adventure film with a ton of comedy thrown in by Johnny Depp, but I was knocked into the sky when I saw this film. ... read more
Critic Reviews
This second film is pretty much all thrills, special effects and nonstop action -- but with virtually no cohesive or compelling story line. Full Review
'Complications arose, ensued, were overcome,' Jack says at one point. Not entirely, but Dead Man's Chest is worth weighing anchor for, regardless. Full Review
In every other way -- as adventure yarn or as satire on that form or merely as an enjoyable entertainment featuring a wonderfully sly and subtle actor -- it is not merely a loser. It is a disaster. Full Review
For the most part, Dead Man's Chest stands on its own and even makes a few halfhearted attempts to say something.
The second Pirates of the Caribbean movie is a sweet umbrella drink leaving no hangover, two hours and 20 minutes of escapism that once again makes the movies safe for guilt-free fun. Full Review
Calling a summer movie 'action-packed' is supposed to be a compliment, but there's nothing so tedious as nonstop excitement. Full Review
It's often unclear what's going on, beyond a zillion dollars of splashy effects washing over the screen. Full Review
All of it evidently based on another notion, that great length equals great importance. Full Review
Although there are memorable bits and pieces, the new Pirates of the Caribbean is a movie with no particular interest in coherence, economy or feeling.
