Certainly not the greatest graphics. Awkward filming. Decent acting. Incredibly cute. Yeah, I'd have my kids watch this if I had them!

The graphic quality is stunningly bad, enough to take one's attention away from the (admittedly mediocre) story. But Jeremy Sumpter is the kind of guy I would have been obsessed with had I actually seen this when it came out, so I'm giving it a little bit benefit of the doubt. To... read more

P.J. Hogan's Peter Pan gets props for staying very true to the original J.M. Barrie source material. That is pretty much all I can acknowledge the film for. Other than that, the actors are annoying, the visuals are a tad overdone, and lastly, its forgettable. For the true timeles... read more

June 6, 2011fb535316333Sumpter makes a good Pan on camera but when it comes to emotion all he can do his smile and nod. :/
However, there are a lot of redeeming factors. The gorgeous visuals that rival it's Disney counterpart, Hurd-Wood's impressive child-acting abilities and most notably, its success... read more -

There were things that I really liked about this film (like Hook and the fight scene at the end) but then were also things that really put me off (like Peter looking like a total lech and Tink).
Critic Reviews
With only a few exceptions, the performances (and the script) range between dull and mediocre.
In this incarnation, Peter is imbued with a greater degree of psychological darkness than before.
Familiarity doesn't exactly breed contempt, yet despite the novelty of a real boy as Peter, the movie does engender a listless been-there / eaten-that reaction. Full Review
A tribute to the power of good storytelling. Full Review
If, as you go into the theater, you hear people coming out still chanting 'I do believe in fairies. I do! I do!' do not be alarmed. Soon you will be joining them. Full Review
Hurd-Wood, a newcomer, brings an earnest charm to Wendy. She's letter-perfect in the role. Full Review
Hogan's shimmering vision of Peter Pan is rewardingly sumptuous and faithful.
It's not completely joyless, as Spielberg's Hook was. And it is not without its laughs and little pleasures. Full Review
What it is lacking is any kind of wonder. True fairy dust is in decidedly short supply and without it, the movie sinks like a cannonball. Full Review
