"Permanent Midnight" is one of the shallowest movies I've ever seen. It is also bizarrely off in tone and pitch. It is based on a memoir about massive drug addiction, but it's directed as if it's a comedy.
Ben Stiller gives an atrociously nonchalant, smirky performance as the... read more -

Pretty well done, but incredibly dry. The scene where Stiller is having sex with the German woman is surreal.

Parts of this movie were really shocking, such as Stiller's character bringing his baby daughter on drug runs and driving her around while high. I thought Stiller did a phenomenal job in his portrayal of Jerry Stahl - very convincing. It showed he can do more than comedy. Good ca... read more

Good movie but had potential to be greater. There were some decent scenes. I especially liked his drugged out interview. It's hard to watch this movie and try to think of Ben Stiller in a more "serious" role since we're so used to his slapstick comedies.

I was very impressed with Ben Stiller as a dramatic actor. Having only seen him in comedies, it was difficult at first for me to wrap my head around the fact that this was the same guy from kooky roles in "Zoolander" and "Dodgeball." But he ended up being a really convincing hero... read more

Jerry Stahl: People always ask, "What's the worst thing heroin drove you to do?". I always answer, "showing up on Maury."

...dk798 IS WRONG! Although this is a dramatic script, this movie is filled with hilarity, but primarily only of the slapstick & sick humor kind. If you don't like that sort of thing then stay away from this movie! But if you can appreciate that, then this is something that you s... read more
