Following the bombings in cities like Herat and Kandahar, refugee camps quickly filled to capacity with survivors. Camps Makaki, Maslakh, and Zaaranj were already lacking in food and other resources. Maslakh is one of the largest refugee camps in the world, struggling to house more than 150,000 hungry Afghans. Majidi interviews peasants, women, children, and soldiers.
